Weight gain at 31 weeks

I'm a little bit worried Im not putting on enough weight and wondered if this was normal.

I weighed 9st 4 pre pregnancy (5ft9) today I weighed myself for the first time in a month and I weigh 10st. I put it into an online calculator which said im 9lb below what I should be.

I eat healthily but I have definitely lost my appetite over the pregnancy but I am still making sure I eat 3 normal size meals a day.

I was quite obsessed with weighing myself early on in the pregnancy and raised it with my midwife that I wasnt putting on weight and she said she wasn't concerned and they only weigh you at booking in.

People keep telling me I have a small bump but given my height its not surprising. Bump is definitely growing on a weekly basis, baby is active and I have only been measuring a week behind since 27 weeks.

Anyone else similar and all was ok or should I raise it again with my midwife when I see her this week. I know all bodies are different but I expected to weigh a lot more at this point.

I honestly wouldn’t worry. I was similar in first pregnancy and haven’t put a lot on so far this pregnancy. Baby was born at 8lb 5oz! So no exactly small. I also measured a little bit behind.
The UK don’t have weight gain guidelines so midwives don’t worry about it too much. The online calculators are all based on US guidelines and I think they are a bit over cautious and very prescriptive. The windows are quite narrow considering how different everyone’s body is.
I’m measuring 2lb below what I ‘should be’ at 19 weeks (I just checked).
Hope all goes well Smile

@newmrs22 thank you for your post, thats really made me feel better knowing you had an 8lb 5oz baby!

I will just have to think positive!

I thought he’d be a lot smaller! I think everyone was quite surprised. Dread to think what this one will be Blush

By 40 weeks with dd I had only put on 10 pounds, she arrived at 40+5 weighing 7lb 12oz and perfectly healthy. The baby takes what it needs from you, so just make sure you keep eating a balanced diet and try not to worry too much. Midwives don't weigh you for a reason!

I only put on a stone throughout my whole pregnancy and five pounds of that was in the last three weeks. I also got Norovirus at 28 weeks and lost a couple of pounds. My ds was born 8lb 5oz and now at 18 weeks he's nearly 17lb. As long as your midwife isn't worried then I don't think you need to worry either :)

Ps I raised my weight gain or lack of with my midwife and she said the same as yours, and she was right
