Sex at 40 weeks hurts

I'm a few days overdue so thought I'd try sex to get things moving. We've not been having penetrative sex since about 3 months after I got a UTI. When we had it this morning, it hurt as DH entered me and I had to stop him going too deep. I'd just orgasmed so was lubricated (sorry if TMI! Blush). Is this normal? I'm wondering how I'll cope getting a baby out of there now!

I'm 33+5 and I've been very sensitive for quite a while now where it's quite uncomfortable, so I think it's pretty normal (or so I assume anyway!)

I could not imagine sex at 40 weeks Grin I felt like the baby was hanging out of my foof by then.
You will dilate and will be fine op, nothing like sex Thanks

you aren't going to have much room down there so you'll need to be creative to find positions that still feel good.

Thanks everyone, that's reassuring. @beetfarmer - I wish I felt like the baby was hanging out...sadly, still feel her kicking the ribs mainly!

We had sex the night before I went into labour to try and get things going a few days early (it worked btw!!) and I remember it felt a bit like he was hitting my cervix. I reckon the cervix gets lower before birth so could just be that?

It all gets very swollen and compressed due to the weight of the baby and all the extra blood circulating. Normal.

In my last pregnancy we had sex at 40ish weeks for the same reason, and it was so uncomfortable! Neither of us enjoyed it at all but it was such a struggled to get started/into a position that actually worked that we decided to just get on with it. I was so desperate to get DD out by that point that I would've done pretty much anything!

Four years later we still refer to it as "that shag" and will not be repeating it this time around!

It's normal. You could try a position where u control how deep the penetration is such as you going on top. A good position for shallow penetration is in the spooning position.
