Hello everyone, I found out that I'm pregnant 2 days ago. After 9 months, nearly 10 of trying, I'm quite anxious. Immediately prior to testing I had extremely sore breasts. However this has subsided and they are only a tiny bit tender, but feel huge! I've also had cramps constantly for the past 2 days. They come on and off all day. I wouldn't say they are painful, very much like period pain but slightly milder at times. I've had no spotting or bleeding. I called the midwife who suggested I get an appointment with gp on monday if cramps continue. However I've read on many forums that lots of women get these cramps. Does this seem like the normal symptoms? Or should I book an appointment? I really want to avoid taking unnecessary time off work. I've taken more pregnancy tests and they are getting darker, and clearblue says 2-3 weeks since conception, so I'm not too worried about a chemical at this precise moment. Sorry for the essay, I just want this baby more than anything and I'm such a worrier!!

I think cramping is quite normal. I'm 4+1 and having mild cramps on and off. I think it's only a warning sign if they are severe and accompanied by bleeding.

Foggymist · 02/06/2018 14:00

There's no point booking an appointment, they can't do anything for you, only tell you cramps are normal as the uterus stretches and if they get worse to call someone then.

Yes, I had quite strong cramps for most of a week, from memory. That was 4-5 weeks from my last period. Not very pleasant, but it was reassuring, in a way...! The end result is currently asleep on me 😂

Obviously best to follow the professionals’ advice, but in my experience and research it’s not necessarily a bad sign.

Flamingosnbears · 02/06/2018 14:09

It's your body gearing up for all that stretching, try to relax and just body monitor if symptoms get worse go to the doctors.

Stephisaur · 02/06/2018 14:14

Sounds exactly like my symptoms at 4+3 :)

Boobs never got particularly sore, just bigger! Cramps were quite regular until around 6 weeks ish but all is fine with my pregnancy so far :) scan yesterday was all fine :)

AJ89 · 02/06/2018 14:28

Sounds all really normal :)

It is anxious time, I find myself googling all sorts!

tinybump18 · 02/06/2018 14:38

You sound like how I was when I first found out I was pregnant! 2 weeks before I was due on I had cramps, sore boobs which were normal period signs for me. Turns out I was pregnant and I'm now 17+4 weeks! So sounds like very normal symptoms to me, I'd book a doctors appointment for a weeks time! I went when I was 5-6 weeks

MrsL96 · 02/06/2018 15:21

Thanks for all your responses. I feel like such a hypochondriac!! I already have my booking appointment for the 20th of June, but might book at early scan at 6 weeks to calm me slighly. Once the morning sickness comes I might relax slightly, as crazy as that may sound Grin

Cramping is normal from implantation as is some spotting, it’s also common for symptoms to come and go. Congratulations Flowers.

tinybump18 · 02/06/2018 15:55

Ive has no symptoms apart from sore boobs and cramps throughout my whole pregnancy so far! I booked an early scan at 6 weeks to make sure I was pregnant because the tests said I was but I didn't believe it!

Foggymist · 02/06/2018 16:13

Remember that not everyone gets morning sickness, I was nauseous but only very rarely threw up and never in the mornings!

Grumpos · 02/06/2018 16:34

First few weeks I had on and off cramping, gurgling belly, “popping” feelings when ovaries or and just general niggles and twitches. Pretty much everything! I would say none of this was what I’d call painful - just niggly and bit uncomfortable sometimes.

I had an early private scan when I believed I was 8 week, turned out I was over 9, which was great! Just bear in mind having a scan at 6 weeks is very early and heartbeat isn’t always able to be found, esp if your dates could be off by a couple days.
If you can wait until 7+ you’ve got a much better chance of not having to go back for a repeat scan if they aren’t able to see baby at the first one.
Congratulations!

Grumpos · 02/06/2018 16:36

Oh and also - apart from these initial niggles I had no sickness. My first proper pregnancy side effect is ridiculous heartburn at 27 weeks! Hmm

Amz60 · 02/06/2018 19:36

@MrsL96 thank you for making this post as I am currently experiencing the same worries!

I am 4 weeks today however found out on Tuesday I was pregnant with a very definite line (taken many tests since then also). On Tuesday I had quite bad cramps and sore boobs however that has subsided since then apart from the occasional twinge here and there. I had an upset stomach on Thursday morning which I have read can happen, but can also be a side affect from the folic acid.

My booking in appointment isn’t until the 9th of July, I’ll be 9+3 by then I think. I think I’ve read so many horror stories that I’m now panicking about what is going on with my own pregnancy. It’s a very worrying time.

MrsL96 · 04/06/2018 15:03

@Amz60 how are you feeling now? I was at work today and in quite a bit of pain, so I called the doctor and have been referred to the early pregnancy unit tomorrow. Not sure what's going to happen, but I'm relieved that I'm seeing someone who can give me a bit more advice.

I am about a week ahead of you (5+2) and have had quite a "tight" feeling across my uterus since about 10dpo. It's not crampy but I'm aware of it all the time. I think this is just normal twinges as everything adjusts to the pregnancy. If it's painful though, then worth getting checked out.

Bellabutterfly2016 · 04/06/2018 15:32

I'm between 9-13 weeks, awaiting a dating scan.

My first pregnancy was fine and this one so far is not great. Awful stomach cramping, I'm feeling sick but not always being sick (which I think is a million times worse!) and the worse tiredness and motion sickness (like a rough ferry crossing making me dizzy) ever - it's been horrendous! If my first pregnancy was like this I'd have been put off doing it again!!!

I rang the doctors and they more or less said it's normal and to go up to the early pregnancy unit if it becomes in-bearable. I'm at my best when I'm laid down!!
