Bleeding help :-(

I know no one can actually tell me for sure however I would like to hear stories, good or bad... I'm 8+3 today. I had a MC at 10+4 5 months ago. I am permanently petrified and analyse everything by the minute... Do my boobs still hurt, do I feel sick, am I tired, what is that twinge, studying the toilet paper intently... Mad I know. So far I have had two random bits of light pink watery blood on toilet paper, at 5 weeks and then 6 weeks. Both lasted just that one toilet visit and then gone by the next! (sorry if any of this is a bit graphic!). The last 2 days I have had a lot of cm, white, milky type stuff which I googled was normal. But then last night I went for number 2 and afterwards on wiping there was a fair amount of pink watery again, with one tiny fleck of red. I'm not having cramping but occasional twinges (so small though I really have to concentrate to feel them!). Last couple days I feel like nausea has been milder but then some hours it comes back very strongly. Boobs are still sore but have never been super sore. My friends she said she could barely touch them... Mine are just slightly tender and a bit bigger, but mainly its just the nipples although I'm convinced they look smaller today :-( Anyway... That's it really. I'm just petrified that this bleeding is the start of another MC.

I’ve never had a MC but was told by the midwife that a little bit of blood can be normal - if there was lots of fresh bright red blood to get in touch ASAP. I experienced cramps during the first trimester, was told it was my body stretching and growing, and my pregnancy symptoms would come and go which really used to scare the shit out of me!

I did have a fair few private scans, especially in the first trimester because I was so scared (they were ivf babies after 5 years of trying). Is this something you’d be able to do?

I’d definitely get in touch with your midwife or hospital ASAP, and see if they can refer you to the early pregnancy unit for a scan to check everything is well.

I’m so sorry for your previous MC, and wish you all the best.

Thanks so much for your reply. I am in two minds about getting an early scan. We have a great walk in epu which I went to twice last time. We saw a healthly baby with heartbeat and the worst still happened. I don't know if it will make me feel better or worse to go. I dont know what to do. I know the bleeding last night isn't a mc compared to what it was like last time but terrified it might be the start of one or that something else is wrong. What are other reasons for bleeding? If its common there must be other causes for it? Going out of my mind

Try to relax and not worry.

I am replying to your post because I had spotting until about 15 weeks in my pregnancy. I would go to the toilet and wipe and there would be varying shades of pink/brown/red on the toilet paper. I would turn to the internet constantly googling what this meant, whether there was anyone else with similar experiences and did it mean I was having a miscarriage. I was constantly wiping myself to check if I was bleeding. Most of time there was a bit of blood on the toilet paper. I was terrified that I was going to miscarry. I was not helping myself and all.

What helped me was taking some time of work to indulge myself (I took a week off).
I also went to the hospital to check whether they could see where the bleeding was coming from, they could not and concluded it was something to do with my hormones. I recalled my mom saying throughout her pregnancies she had ‘periods’ so I think she experienced something similar as my spotting was more obvious during the time I was due my period. Anyway I researched so much back then, I think if you don’t have severe cramping then your most likely will not miscarry. Each passing week the risk of miscarry severely reduces so I would just try to get by each week.

Also, try to to analyse your symptoms a part from spotting I had a absolutely no other symptoms so I think spotting was my symptom.

I wish I enjoyed my pregnancy more and not have stressed so much as it was all for nothing. I currently have a very beautiful and very sassy 4 month old.

Take it easy momma and get off the net!

I have just read Sophie’s post and I remember the consultant saying that in the first trimester the body is stretching and moving so much that could also cause spotting. There are so many other reasons for spotting!

Thank you. I might take some time off work, maybe that's what I need. To just chill at home for a while. I wish I could just go to sleep and wake up sporadically at like 12 weeks, 20 and then 40!

I completely understand your being in two minds about going to epu. For me personally, I had some of the extra scans because I’d lost my symptoms and was scared, and they reassured me, but appreciate that it might not be for you.

I was on progesterone and oestrogen supplements for the first 16 weeks so was told any bleeding could be in response to the hormones. Another possible cause of bleeding that I was told was having sex.

I’ve Googled it and other possible causes of light bleeding could be:
placenta developing
Fibroids
Irritated cervix
A cervical polyp
An infection
Hormones

Apparently as many as 1 in 4 women will experience spotting/light bleeding during pregnancy.

If I were you, I think I’d get in touch with the midwife/epu to get checked out to make sure it’s not caused by an infection or something like that, and if offered an early scan I’d make a decision whilst there.

I actually have my booking appointment with midwife on Monday... The same lady as I saw last time. I'm going to speak to her and see what she suggests. At the end of the day, if it is MC I know there is nothing anyone can do to stop it but it would be great to have an actual reason for bleeding other than MC

Oh gosh it's so stressful isn't it. You definitely won't read anything that will make you feel better, but I can tell you I had exactly the same as @Nikkibham up until 11 weeks. I was a wreck. I had quite a few early scans, nothing comforted me really. I'm almost 32 weeks and I still look at the loo roll after every wee!

Iwantaunicorn · 08/06/2018 20:37

SophieStripe how did you get on at your booking appointment? How are you?
