Can you take maternity sooner than date?

So I put in my forms starting my maternity from 18th June my baby is due for 25th and I’m booked for a c-section that day. When I planned to work until the 18th I felt fine and up for it but now the weathers hot, my work place is far too warm (it’s old portable cabins with no fans or air conditioning) and to top it off I’m measuring in the 90th percentile at the minute so really big 😣 I really want next Friday to be my last day can I ask my boss if she can start my maternity leave early?

Yes, you can.

Do you have any annual leave? But yes, if you had a pregnancy related illness you could be forced to take maternity early so there should be no problem taking it early. But talk to your manager.

Most work places are quite flexible when it comes to things like this. As a lot of people decide to start maternity at 36 weeks but you can start whenever you like as far as I know
