If your Placenta is at the front, does that mean you have a higher chance of Placenta Previa?

I'm only 12 weeks but was told at the scan on Friday that the placenta is infront of the baby so obviously I wont feel movements anytime soon.

Does this mean the placenta could move underneath or once its on place, is that it?

AFAIK nbg, being at the front doesn't make any difference in terms of placenta previa. And also afaik, it only moves up, not down, so unless it was low to begin with then there is no need to worry (and probably no need to worry even if it's low as almost all placentas move up once the uterus expands!)

Have you seen this site ? Great for answering questions such as this.

And congratulations!!

as miaou has said, it can move up not down! what an anterior placenta means, is that you might not feel movement for a long while, as the placenta is like a cushion, so muffles the movement..apart from that, should be fine !

I had an anterior placenta with ds (and it was massive too!) - midwife always had difficulty finding the heartbeat, and I only felt kicks in certain places - didn't find out it was anterior until just before he was born though, and so it was a bit of a "lightbulb" moment (ie, ah, that's why hb was so hard to find etc)

Totally normal nbg, don't worry about it

Thats cool.

So did you get the good kicks still. You know the ones that make you gasp or did you not get that?
Might not be a bad thing this anterior placenta lol.

I had this on DS1 - felt lots of kicks, but NOTHING like the movement I see with this pg. When people used to talk about watching the belly move, I was confused, cos I didn't really experience that- but with this one, I get much more exagerated (sp?) and visible movements.

I had absolutely no problems with placenta previa.
Best of luck

With ds my placenta wasn't wholly anterior, it was slightly left of centre. So I felt/saw kicks on the right and at the top as time went on. Agree with eastclaremum, this db's kicks are far more obvious as there isn't a great big cushion in the way!!!
