Scan in 4 hours, full bladder help!

Silly question considering I've had 4 DC, but last one was 8 years ago! I am very early and need to have a full bladder, but I've just woken up and need to pee! If I pee now, will i still manage to have a full bladder in 4 hours by drinking lots of water?

Yes! For heavens sake go and pee :)

NerrSnerr · 01/06/2018 06:05

Oh god yes. You'll never hold it in for 4 hours. I usually have a big drink about an hour before my scan.

wonderings · 01/06/2018 06:07

Yes they tell you to have a pint of water 1 hour before your appointment. Good luck ☺️

eurochick · 01/06/2018 06:19

Pee! Drink an hour before your appointment.

emwithme · 01/06/2018 06:26

Oh god yes. I emptied mine 75 mins before my scan then drank (over the next 20 minutes) a 500 ml bottle.

Had to go for half a wee midway through as my bladder was getting too full!

CheesecakeAddict · 01/06/2018 06:29

Yes. I had a pint of water 1 hour before and and to pee because my bladder was so full they couldn't actually see the baby

CollyWombles · 01/06/2018 06:34

Oh thank god! Right okay, pint of water an hour before. No problem. Thanks ladies.

Does your scan letter specifically say you need a full bladder? Most scans don’t require that now.

CollyWombles · 01/06/2018 06:47

Yes it does. The scan is to confirm whether I am early in pregnancy or whether I've had a loss and pregnancy tests are picking up on left over hormones. If it's early pregnancy I will only be 3 and a half to 4 weeks. Maybe thats why they need a full bladder?

I so hope there will be a pregnancy. I have 4 DC already but to my ex husband, I'd love a baby with my DH.

Are you dating from last period? If so, it's very unlikely that anything will be seen. If everything is going fine it will be too early for anything to be visible.

CollyWombles · 01/06/2018 07:43

It's all a bit complicated, I got a bfp 9 days after my period. So I think the hospital is going by the previous period which is why they think I'm either very early or more likely to have miscarried. The last scan I had the sonographer said she thought it was likely my last period had actually been a miscarriage.

I'm still getting positives however always 1-2 weeks and my HCG test last Saturday was only 45.

Going by my LMP I would be 3 weeks 5 days. Going by the previous period, I would be nearly 7 weeks.

How did it go? X

LittleLoveXoxo · 01/06/2018 13:57

i am told to have a litre of water an hour before the appointment

CollyWombles · 01/06/2018 14:08

My HCG levels have dropped to 9 from 45. The lady said to expect bleeding soon. It wasn't meant to be. Thanks all x
