Hello I'm being induced at 39 weeks with my first baby due to excess amniotic fluid and large growth (also at risk for PE) - but I'm really really hoping I'll go into labour naturally as I've read up on the risks. I was told I can refuse it at any time, but as I'm already so huge, in a lot of pain and very uncomfortable, when the time actually comes I'm not 100% sure what my decision will be. I've read some horror stories which is doing my anxiety no good what so ever, so I'd love to hear some positive outcomes if possible! Thank you Smile

I was induced at 38+3. Had the first pessary at 11.30am and had DD by 16.32pm the same day! I had a bath which really helped so would definitely advise that to anyone!! Unfortunately didn't have time for any pain relief (luckily DD was very small 5lb 9 lol!) but everything was fine and it happened really quickly.
Good luckSmile

I got induced with both of mine because the stubborn pair didn’t want to come out and both births were fine. I’d do it all again tomorrow. Try not to read any more horror stories. I know it’s easy to say this but do your best to stay as relaxed and calm as you can. It’s best for you and the baby. X

I was induced with DC3 at 39+5 and it was fine. Pessary at around midday. Nothing seemed to happen for ages, then started contracting around 5:30pm and she was born just after 7pm. Good luck OP - you will be fine. Smile

I'd definitely be induced again. Oral tablet given. 2 hrs later fully dilated and pushing!

Induced with Dc3 at 39 weeks. Pessary at 2pm with totally manageable contractions. Had waters broken at 10pm and 4cm, dc was born 20 mins later, no pain relief.

Ah these are so reassuring, thank you! I know it's what's best for the baby in the long run, but I'm just having nightmares of stuck baby or forceps or EMCS! But really I don't know what will happen - so trying to keep a positive and open mind Smile

I think as long as you stay positive and the baby arrives safely then it's all fine! I got induced and had a c-section but honestly that could have been the case if I had gone into labour naturally as I had a really high cervix and the babies head was tilted in my pelvis.

All in all though it was positive because I stayed relaxed all the way through. Don't wanna freak you out by telling you this! I just want you to know that adrenaline is only going to make things worse and sloe down labour so make sure you stay calm and focus. Oxytocin is your best friend during labour!!

Best of luck to you Smile Flowers

Two babies both induced.

Ds2 36+6 was born 1.5 hours after drip started. I was induced due to waters breaking early
Both only gas and air.
