Fundal height query!

Hi all

Now it's second pregnancy and I'm aware the FH is notorious for being wrong or measured incorrectly so bare with me for the query.

In 29+4, had GTT test this morning so all good and I am overweight but have lost 65kg since last April.

My community midwives are being dickheads and won't see me as they believe my consultant should do all the checks since I'm not giving birth at their hospital. (I shit you not!)

Ok so query after that mad glucose induced rant.

My fundal height is 36cm, estimated weight is just over 3kg?

Obviously some baking still to go so are growth scans planned due to this as I can't remember procedure and don't see consultant until 15th June.

Thanks in advance.

You’ve lost 65kg in a MONTH?

gryffen · 31/05/2018 14:13

Lol sorry no 65kg since last April.

That Rapilose is going straight to the brain lol

My fundal measurements were always bang on every visit- to the cm even at 41 weeks I had a supposedly perfect measurement and then went and had an enormous nearly 12 pound baby by emergency c section. I wouldn’t take a blind bit of notice of fundal height measurements they are nonsense.

I had the opposite problem, my fundal height was always around 4/5cm behind. All my babies have been well over 8lbs.

6cm is a large difference though and I would imagine you'll need regular growth scans to keep an eye. If the baby looks too big they might suggest early induction/section.

HI Crazy

Yeah i totally agree and from the first pregnancy i always knew they were inaccurate but just couldnt remember the procedure for checking apart from consultant appointment and growth scans.

If you have a raised BMI you are usually booked for extra growth scans at 28, 32 and 36 weeks if not but they are worried about the size of the baby they will usually just book you in for growth scans as required. I measure over at every appointment but baby size is completely normal on growth scans.

Hi Bluebird

That rings a bell as growth scans are ticked on green sheet just couldn't remember the weeks they normal happen. I was induced with 1st at 38+5 So I'm guessing probably going to be same this time too (no issues there).

Many thanks for reply :)
