Early pregnancy and contact with shingles

Anyone got any experience of this? I am almost 6 weeks pregnant and I have just found out a family member has shingles. I had contact with him recently when he was complaining of pains and sunburn feeling on his skin.

I have not had chickenpox myself so is my pregnancy in danger? I have a doctors appointment booked but wondered if anyone has been through it.

Thanks

No personal experience but will give this a little bump for you.

My understanding is that you have to have contact with the rash or blisters to get chickenpox from shingles so if it hadn't developed yet you are probably alright. You are doing the right thing by seeing your doctor and they may test you for immunity (you might have had mild chickenpox at some point and not know). Try not to worry too much (easier said than done)

Worth checking with gp/midwife, the risk is very very low though. You have to have contact with the liquid from inside the blisters of the infected singles. Much lesson contagious than chicken pox.
