Okay so it's 9am now and after having something to eat, a hot drink and cold drink my little man hasn't moved. Only trouble is I'm in work now and they're funny buggers. How long do I leave it to see if he moves? Hate troubling MAU x

How far along are you?

If you're concerned just call them. They won't mind at all and your work will just have to cope.

celeryeater · 31/05/2018 09:05

When you call they usually say have a very cold drink and lie on your side for a hour and if you still don't feel anything come in for monitoring. Is this unusual for your baby? I don't think I would notice if mine was quiet for three hours... But all morning I would.

adviceonthepox · 31/05/2018 09:05

I regularly didn't feel movements for hours at a time in all my pregnancies (4) baby might be asleep. The recommendation from midwives is to lie down on your left side after drinking a cold drink. If still no movement I would ring the hospital.

rosetintedview · 31/05/2018 09:06

If you're worried then call them - they'd rather see you and it be nothing than not see you and there be something wrong. Work will just have to lump it - your baby is more important

CoperCabana · 31/05/2018 09:07

How far along are you? They always say get any change in movement checked out.

Icklepickle101 · 31/05/2018 09:08

I’m not sure I’d have noticed after 3 hours. Probably if I hadn’t felt anything by lunchtime I’d think it was unusual and call but you know your baby’s routine best.

Spanglyprincess1 · 31/05/2018 09:10

Call them. I did for mine and they didn't mind at all and were really nice to me.

Igottastartthinkingbee · 31/05/2018 09:11

If your gut feeling is to be concerned then call maternity unit. They will not mind AT ALL! And work will have to cope. Hope all is well.

endofthelinefinally · 31/05/2018 09:11

Ring them now.
Nothing is more important than your baby.

BernardsarenotalwaysSaints · 31/05/2018 09:13

You're worried enough to be questioning it so give them a call, it's what MAU are there for.

Cat12321 · 31/05/2018 09:17

Agree with PP: drink something cold and sugary and lay on your left. Make sure you've eaten, too.

All the best. I've been there, I know how scary it is Thanks

jellybean218 · 31/05/2018 09:18

I'm just over 28 weeks and usually he wakes me up in a morning he's that active, it's not until after lunch he settles for a bit but he's a very active baby usually. Just a little worried because I've had two cups of tea since half 5 ish as other half's alarm woke me, 2 rounds of toast and 2 ice cold drinks and still nothing :/ x

I'd go in. You can't be too careful. xx

ForTheLoveOfCrispyCreme · 31/05/2018 09:20

I'd get checked out.

KTD27 · 31/05/2018 09:21

Please go in. Please

MyOtherProfile · 31/05/2018 09:21

Definitely call them at least.

katmarie · 31/05/2018 09:21

Call the midwife unit, it really isn't worth waiting. Work is important but realistically there are other jobs. Your baby is your priority, and if they give you grief for that then they might not be the best fit for you anyway (and they will be in breach of the law surrounding maternity rights).

TitZillas · 31/05/2018 09:21

Eat some chocolate or sweets and see if that gets some reaction? Failing that, I would go in and get checked.

ginandnappies · 31/05/2018 09:22

I'd get checked out to put your mind at rest. I had lots of times like this when I was pregnant and I only felt him move once I actually left work and went to my midwife!! They usually say to have a cold or fizzy drink and lie in a quiet room with no distractions so maybe because you're at work you're not noticing as much x

Hogtini · 31/05/2018 09:26

Just call them, you must have seen the recent count the kicks / kicks count campaigns? Nothing is too much trouble if you're worried about your baby.

ReadytoTalk · 31/05/2018 09:28

Please go in and be seen. Your baby is more important than work.

babydreamer1 · 31/05/2018 09:29

Please please just call them. That's what they are there for it says on every poster and every booklet I have not to wait or see what happens. If they want you to drink or lay on your side first they will tell you. You have a legal right to time if for antenatal care, as much as you need, this comes under it! Just make the call and follow their advice.

strawberrypenguin · 31/05/2018 09:31

Agree with everyone else please call and go in. Your baby is more important than work.

ReadytoTalk · 31/05/2018 09:31

What you eat or drink doesnt actually make a difference to your baby's movements. Please don't waste any more time. Even just call the hospital for advice. They'd rather see you and baby be fine than for there to be a problem. Good luck Flowers

HyacinthsBucket70 · 31/05/2018 09:34

Please just go to the hospital.
