My bubba is almost due, I am quite large now as you would expect but I’m not too uncomfortable, I do need to pee a lot at night but that isn’t the issue either. Thing is.... every morning I wake up between 2-4am!! My partner said maybe you fall asleep too early (usually 10ish) so last night I stayed awake watching tv in bed until midnight and still woke up at 4. When I woke up it was just like I’d slept all night and it was morning, I didn’t need a wee and my baby wasn’t having a boxing match so I don’t know why I had woke up, I was feeling so tired and poorly all day because of my lack of sleep. So tonight I fell asleep my usually 10ish time. And woke up half an hour ago and I’m sat here trying to find ways to get back to sleep but I can’t Hmm does anyone know why this is happening? Or how to stop it?

I only wish I knew why or how to stop it! I'm 31 weeks and haven't slept at all this evening- I've given up! Last few nights I only fall asleep around 3 - 4 am Confused

Poppylizzyrose · 31/05/2018 04:57

Hey I’m awake too! Woke up at 3am and haven’t be able to sleep. I’m only just in the second trimester! I already wake up loads to wee. My friend laughs and says i’ll Have to sleep in a nappy third trimester 😭😭

chickenchip · 31/05/2018 05:10

Second trimester I slept well apart from 3-4 wees a night!

Hardheadedwoman39 · 31/05/2018 05:13

I've been awake since 4am....27 weeks pregnant. Went for second wee of the night and was just wide awake!

Happens quite a bit. The only solution I've found is a power nap in the day, which isn't always practical I know 😬

Poppylizzyrose · 31/05/2018 05:19

This isn’t usual for me though, normally I get up wee and can go back to sleep. Hope today is a one off! My pet peeve is the headaches, sickness is touch wood gone but has been neatly replaced with horrible constant headaches. I’m drinking more and hoping but I hate feeling full of liquid. Sometimes feel like a big wobbly jelly full of water :(

chickenchip · 31/05/2018 05:35

I'm watching The Graduate and eating hob nobs! I'll try a nap later. Hope you all manage to get back off to sleep 💤

Jammycustard · 31/05/2018 05:42

I’m up! Also eating biscuits. This is my third pregnancy and actually has been better than the last when I just couldn’t sleep. I read that lying still and resting if you can’t sleep is the best thing to do because at least your body is getting some rest. Frustrating though.

chickenchip · 31/05/2018 05:46

Yes I can manage just the lying still in fits and starts through the day - no actual shut eye though! Bleugh

BumpInTheOven · 31/05/2018 05:47

With you in the boat too... 2 hours sleep so far..: gonna lie in bed and will hopefully drop of again soon.. x

MrsSiba · 31/05/2018 05:48

I'm up too!
Third trimester and really not getting enough sleep. I usually fall asleep downstairs about 9 then wake up anywhere between 1 and 3am to go to bed. Except tonight I ended up watching a crap film on ch4 called Straightheads and not slept a wink since. Work is going to be a nightmare today 😴😴

chickenchip · 31/05/2018 05:58

Oh it's just so horrible isn't it 😩 hope work isn't too awful Thanks

MrsSiba · 31/05/2018 06:04

Thanks chicken

I'm now thinking of everyone else who posted and is lying awake!

Babysharkdododo · 31/05/2018 06:05

21 weeks here and awake most nights 0330 to 0430. Then my toddler gets me up between 5-6. Zzzzzzzz

Poppylizzyrose · 31/05/2018 06:07

Feel like I’m the only second trimester one here, why am I awake? Lol

Poppylizzyrose · 31/05/2018 06:08

MrsSiba · 31/05/2018 06:11

Poppylizzyrose · 31/05/2018 06:12

Grandpa shark...dododo 😂

MrsSiba · 31/05/2018 06:14

Toddler in my bed is dreaming and taking in her sleep. Asking daddy to peel her banana.

Starface · 31/05/2018 06:21

I've had this in first trimester, often improves for me in second trimester, then worse in last trimester. Experience across multiple pregnancies.

First pregnancy I tried to keep to a "normal" routine. This was foolish. My solution with the sleep madness is give in to my body, don't try to resist. I find that overall I get enough sleep with only a few horrible days to ride out. If I have a couple of bad nights I can go to bed at 8 and sleep till morning sometimes. Get a light management app on your phone e.g. Twilight, if you get tempted in the night, so at least you don't have the blue light making it worse - though you might fall asleep quicker with no phone stimulating your thoughts. Also, worries and thinking about the pregnancy/associated changes can seem much worse in the middle of the night so if this is an issue have a plan for dealing with this, e.g. writing a list and reassessing in the light of day. Being well rested makes literally everything else better, so I have learned that for me this has been an important thing to prioritise throughout my parenting journey, even if it led to some unorthodox strategies. Horses for courses, you need to find what works for you, but don't be constrained by expectations of "normal" or maintaining a pre child Life!

chickenchip · 31/05/2018 15:23

I managed to get a couple of hours in thank goodness. Don't feel too bad but will try and have a nap today. Fingers crossed everyone gets a good night tonight!

MrsSiba · 31/05/2018 19:54

Well done chicken hope it was enough to see you through the day. Did you manage a nap today? I was non stop at work with it being month end then went to a drinks reception after work. Planning an early night tonight, fingers crossed.

My feet look like I borrowed them from Shallow Hal today 😂

chickenchip · 31/05/2018 22:00

I tried to nap but no dice! It's ok as I'm just pottering about the house so those couple of hours were enough. I'm hoping I'm exhausted enough to get some sleep tonight!!

Yep to the feet - mine look deformed they are so swollen Sad ouch!

jessipearson · 31/05/2018 22:55

Exactly the same here! Due this Monday and I always wake up between 3am and 4am. I hope it goes when baby is here! It's so hard in the day.
I hope you find a solution! Last night I got out if bed and had a horlicks. This seemed to help for me. Xx
