Hello lovelies!
Just wondered if there was anyone else based in the Bristol ISH area, thought it might be nice to share location specific tips re: choosing hospitals, NCT classes, pregnancy exercise classes etc!

I'm in Bristol Smile whereabouts roughly are you?.

Chickenandegg8 · 30/05/2018 08:20

I am too! I’m near Yate

Englishpetal89 · 30/05/2018 18:19

I'm North West Bristol, so Yate isn't too far! I've just hit 6 weeks - how far along are you?

pixienewbie · 30/05/2018 18:28

I'm in Bristol too!

Fredthespider · 30/05/2018 19:24

Bristol for me too, just got my BFP and am about 4 weeks gone. I had a look around for some pregnancy exercise classes (two friends did pilates and had great births) but couldn't find anything near me. Have you had any luck?

BridgeFarmKefir · 30/05/2018 21:10

I've booked my NCT and there's a load of pregnancy yoga round me - but I am in Southville so it's to be expected Wink There are lots of pregnancy yoga, aquafit etc classes round here. Not sure if you all get a community mag, but my local one has lots of listings for pregnancy/ baby classes.

pixienewbie · 30/05/2018 22:11

I've seen a company called lush tums that does yoga near me- but recommends you don't start until 12 weeks. xx

Hi all, I’m also near Bristol!
I’ve been looking at pregnancy yoga and aquanatal, not booked yet as feel a bit silly going without a bump (in all the pictures people have a bump!) I probably should though because I’m doing very little exercise at the moment.
I’m booked in at Southmead. Baby due beginning of Dec.
when are you all due?

Englishpetal89 · 30/05/2018 23:45

I'm due end of January.
I'm going to try and get into some classes after my 12 week scan (but that's not even booked yet; I imagine mid to late July?)

Fredthespider · 31/05/2018 05:57

@pixienewbie thanks for that recommendation, they have a class in Downend that isn’t too far away! I’ll also check out the community magazine, didn’t consider that!

All things being well I’m due the very beginning of Feb so the start of a long road!

Chickenandegg8 · 31/05/2018 08:00

I’m 35 weeks. I’ve not been able to find any pregnancy yoga classes, can only do payg due to OH working shifts and we already have a little girl. It’s been pretty frustrating as I’ve felt like I’ve been doing nothing but sit around all pregnancy!!!

MyOtherUserNameIsAUnicorn · 31/05/2018 08:56

If you follow bristol natural parenting and sling group on Facebook I found them really useful for class info!

MyOtherUserNameIsAUnicorn · 31/05/2018 08:57

*Bristol (silly forgetting capitals)

Englishpetal89 · 04/06/2018 08:09

@Fredthespider Oooo exciting, you must only be a week or two behind me!!

OP posts:
Coffee3 · 14/07/2018 08:33

How’s everyone getting on?
We have our 20 week scan next week which seems like an exciting half way marker!

whiningandwining · 14/07/2018 08:42

Hi joining a bit late! I'm 25 weeks (due October) with my second. I'm in north west Bristol.
For the lady who asked about yoga classes, I'm about to start a PAYG one on Tuesday. It's every Tuesday, 730 to 9 in Clifton if that's any good? The instructor is the leader from my NCT class with my eldest - she's great!

Englishpetal89 · 14/07/2018 09:27

I just got my letter for my 20 week scan - it's all moving so slowly!!!
I'm just really struggling with my emotions - I'm pretty emotional on a normal day anyway, but I'm in tears at the most ridiculous things now, and it's getting to me because I can see how silly the things I'm upset over are?

Gem173 · 14/07/2018 09:37

I’m from Bristol :) am 33+3 due end of August. Haven’t really done anything other than the normal nhs antenatal classes they offer which tbh were enough for me. Nct costs too much for me and I’ve been a bit of a hermit this pregnancy mainly staying in other than to go out to work. Hope everyone’s pregnancy’s are going well.

jennac · 14/07/2018 10:13

@Englishpetal89 I know how you feel!! These last few days I can't even seem to hold a conversation without getting emotional and crying. I think my partner is a tad confused by it all! I feel really weird and out of sorts! Hormones I'm sure. When is your 20 week scan? Mine is at Southmead on 20th August but I have midwife appointment on 26th July so hoping to hear heartbeat then. Really wanting to find a pregnancy yoga class I can attend to meet other people going through the same thing!! It's been a bit of a lonely road so far

Englishpetal89 · 14/07/2018 10:56

Midwife on the 31st July, 20 week scan on 31st August!
Let me know if they do listen to the heartbeat - which part of Bristol are you? Would be interested to know if different trusts do different things.

OP posts:
Coffee3 · 14/07/2018 11:11

The midwife didn’t listen for a heartbeat at my 16week appt; she said they don’t start doing that or measuring your tummy until 25weeks.
16 week appt was a quick in/out - chat to check I was ok, blood pressure and urine check.
There is an NBT nhs app that I’ve downloaded that tells you what to expect from each appt plus a lot of the stuff that’s in your notes in terms of information which is quite good.
I’m looking to start aqua natal from September, might also look for pregnancy yoga or similar to start sooner maybe.

Englishpetal89 · 14/07/2018 11:24

@coffee3 I'm looking at signing up for aquanatal classes too, in Hengrove?

Also, thanks for the tip about the app, I had it downloaded, but didn't know it has appointment descriptions on!

OP posts:
Coffee3 · 15/07/2018 17:27

@Englishpetal89 I’m hoping to do them in the new private pool in Chipping Sodbury as it’s nearer to me ; hopefully they’ll have a space!

jennac · 16/07/2018 17:31

Does anyone else do the aqua natal class in Henbury on Thursdays?

That's disappointing that they don't listen for the heartbeat at 16 week midwife appointment. I was holding off telling work til after that as thought it would be a nice little reassurance before fully letting the cat out of the bag, but if they don't I might as well just tell them now!
