I am quite worried my son has just got chicken pox and whilst I have had chicken pox as a child I don't know what to do about the fact that I'm pregnant. Should I tell my son not to come to near etc?????? Please help?

If you've definately had chicken pox as a child you should be immune and have nothing to worry about.

If you've had cp, chances are you are immune. It might be worth getting your gp to do an immunity test just to check.

But I can't get to the Gp until monday. What do I do tomorrow?

I've just called NHS direct. I'm awaiting a phone call at approx 10pm

If you want reassurance from a professional why not ring NHS direct!

I wouldn't worry about taking any precautions. I am 22 weeks pg and DD had chicken pox a couple of months ago. When I told MW and Consultant that I had had it as a child, they both said that that was fine then, and didn't bother taking any tests.

NewDKmum · 19/05/2007 20:19

Oh, and congrats on your pregnancy!

Zola78 · 19/05/2007 20:22

Thanks, NewDKmum. It's really weird, I haven't told my family but everyone in cyberspace knows. I haven't told close friends and family because my first pregnancy was a miscarriage and although I have gone on to have 2 healthy boys I still live with the fear. The disappointment in my in laws face etc. But thanks I am excited just worried about cp and baby.

Don't mean to scare you but I would honestly go to your gp and get checked out. I got chicken pox for a 2nd time as an adult and it was horrible.
