Eating Disorders/Disordered Eating in Pregnancy?

Hi all!

Just wondering if theres any other mums to be (or have been) out there that have/had an eating disorder or disordered eating. Im 15 weeks today and only a year ago diagnosed with Bulimia. I am controlling it so far, but I'm concerned at my next midwife appointment when i find out how much ive gained since i was 7 weeks - will really get to me.

Anyone else got any tips/words of wisdom of how they have personally dealt with the weight gain and stress of having to eat normally?

note: please no comments like "pls dont worry about your weight, baby comes first etc etc" - im not stupid and its quite patronizing as i would love to not worry about my weight at this point in my life, i have a serious mental health problem which means my subconscious doesn't allow me to think like that unfortunately.

I suffered from eating disorders throughout my teens and 20s and although recovered by the time I was pregnant at 34 I still struggled massively. I had twins so I became absolutely huge.

What helped me was looking at the normal weight gain charts so I knew that what I was gaining was totally normal and not really avoidable. Some times I also asked them not to tell me what my weight was. I had counselling too for a variety of reasons and found that useful. I must say that once I started obviously showing I coped with the weight gain better than expected because I could see where the weight gain was. However the counselling was useful in coping with the massive change to my body afterwards.

@TammySwansonTwo thank you, i will try the weight gain charts thing, yeah i asked not to see my weight at the first appointment but they sent me a letter a couple weeks ago for my screening results and it had my weight printed there, so i saw it by accident - huge blow to the confidence lol! thank you again :) xx
