When did BH start for you?

I'm currently 21 weeks, and for the last 4-5 days have been getting not-painful but very annoying Braxton Hicks. My stomach gets very very solid and uncomfortable several times a day and it's impossible to ignore. This is my second but my first 'baby' is seven now so I can't remember when I first got this with her but I'm sure it was much later.

Did anyone else get this this early? When did BHs start in your second pregnancy and was it earlier than your first? I am telling myself it's not a sign of problem or an early labour to come, but I can't help a little worry in the back of my mind. So any advice or anecdotes would be very much appreciated Smile

I got lots of them from 21-22 weeks with my first. They are so horrible and uncomfortable! I'm almost 14 weeks with DC2 now and was told by the midwife that they will probably start even earlier this time.

DC1 arrived full term at 39 weeks by the way!

Hellooo :) didn't want to read and run. Mine started around 18/19 weeks. My midwife said it's nothing to worry about having them early so I just cracked on :')

ShuffleHopStepFlapStep · 29/05/2018 12:15

Ah thank you, that's reassuring Smile If I had to guess I'd say from 28-30 weeks with my first, fairly frequent and intense though.
Oh the joys eh?!

Started at 26 weeks now 37 weeks and they've really ramped up this last week. 3 days ago they were every 2-3minutes for hours but after that they've settled back to 4-5 a day

ShuffleHopStepFlapStep · 29/05/2018 12:18

Oh no pullingmyhair, sounds v annoying! At 37wks you are on the home straight though (even if it doesn't always feel like it!). x

I don’t think I ever had them with dc1... is that unusual? He was a section in the end but I never experienced anything I’d have thought was a BH.

Lemontwist · 29/05/2018 13:11

Bowlofbabelfish I'm 32 weeks with DC 3 and have never experienced obvious BHs. No idea if that's normal or not, I've never really thought to ask. I'm guessing that they happen and I don't notice.
2 very straight forward deliveries so far at 39+6 and 39+4.

Bowlofbabelfish · 29/05/2018 13:14

Oh not just me then lemon! That’s good to know. Currently just into trimester 3 and not had any here either. Bump is certainly painful sometimes but more when the occupant twists into an odd lie or hits the scar. That really hurts.

So it seems there are no 'rules' when it comes to pg and the cliché of 'everyone's different' really does hold true!

I had none what so ever with dc1 but then also didn't really feel any movements either this one doesn't stop moving 24/7 and so many bh. The end is definitely in sight but the last few weeks are definitely the longest and so over it now. I'd really love to just get comfortable in bed and sleep for a few hours at a time lol I don't need 8 or even 6 hrs, never have but more than 15 minutes would be heaven

brackeroo · 29/05/2018 15:25

I had it once at 20 weeks, only for one day and it was mild, not painful, just weird. I'm 22+6 now and haven't had it again.

TinyTerror1 · 30/05/2018 09:26

Have finally worked out that this is what I've been having the last two days - I'm 21+3 today. It was very weird and a big relief to find out it wasn't anything concerning!
