Found out I'm pregnant on Friday. I'm about 5 weeks 3 days now according to last period. Do I phone my GP or self refer to a hospital? You would think I would remember this as I have a 2 year old but I honestly can't remember.

In my area we just self refer to maternity, congratulations!

It depends on your area. They changed the rules where I am and you know have to go through your gp. If you check your local hospital website it should tell you.

Congratulations btw!

Congrats! Contact your GP and ask them to book you in with the community midwife, that's how it works in my area, not sure if it's the same everywhere else xx

It depends on your trust. Most places you don’t need to see a gp at all now. In my trust you just phone a booking line to make your 1st appointment with a mw.

Thanks for the quick replies! I will phone my GP on Tuesday to find out. Such an exciting but anxious time Grin

Here the booking in appointment with the midwife is at your GP's practice so you phone the practice and the receptionist books you in with the midwife but it will be at about 8 weeks. She'll want to know the date of your last period / how many weeks pregnant you are. Congratulations!
