Where do I get the giant muslins from?!? Can't find them anywhere and also is the tommee tippee prep machine worth the money?

I've got normal muslin sheets but can't seem to find what everyone is telling me to get 'the big ones' and also is the prep machine worth the money ? does it save a lot of time especially on night feeds?

Aden and Anais do big ones and no the prep machine gets mouldy apparently so i wouldn't use it

chloechloe · 27/05/2018 06:59

If you want the muslins for swaddling, Aden & Anais ones are amazing.

I don't have any idea about the PP machine - breast feeding will save you the most time on night feeds Smile. Loads of people rate the machines though from what I've seen.

NovaArt3mis · 27/05/2018 07:05

Aden & Anais do large muslin swaddles, look in TKMaxx for discounted ones.

If you are planning on formula feeding then yeah, I'd get a prep machine. If you follow the cleaning instructions and replace the filters there won't be mould. If you're hoping to try breastfeeding hold off and buy one if/when you need it as they're not cheap.

Astrid2 · 27/05/2018 07:09

Summer Infant so massive muslins for a lot cheaper than Aden and anais. Also Mothercare have extra large muslins in the sale just now.

The prep machine is so definitely worth it. An absolute life saver for me! A red light comes on when the filter needs changing.

BossWitch · 27/05/2018 07:16

Having seen pictures of the mould in the tubes of the perfect prep machine there's no way I'd have one, but I guess do your research into cleaning etc. If you plan on breastfeeding at all I wouldn't buy one in advance anyway, wait and see how it goes as if it's working, breastfeeding at night is much easier than doing a bottle, however you prepare it!

DeadButDelicious · 27/05/2018 07:19

Any help on the large muslin front, amazon maybe?

We had a prep machine and it was a life saver. We never had any issues with mould, we used the correct filters, replaced them regularly and cleaned it regularly.

Muffin7 · 27/05/2018 07:19

I got some giant muslins from TKMaxx, was the only place I could find them.

I wouldn't be without our prep machine, I formula fed both of my children and without the prep machine I would have been trudging downstairs to warm bottles in the night, when you are exhausted anyway that's not what you want. Just make sure you keep it clean and you will be fine.

Squishandasquash · 27/05/2018 07:21

I found the loveliest large muslins from Etta loves - the baby was obsessed with staring at them!

Happygolucky009 · 27/05/2018 07:27

I wouldn't buy the perfect prep machine, they are not recommended, bbc which did report on them with tt refusing to share its research on the effectiveness of the product and which did their own research which showed it wasn't effective at removing all the bacteria before feeding. For me, you either sterilize effectively or why don't bother at all!

DollyLlama · 27/05/2018 07:28

I got gifted a HUGE one, no idea where it's from but it says weegoamigo it's lovely.

Also, perfect preps are worth every penny. Quick feed, easy to maintain. Love it.

firsttimedad79 · 27/05/2018 07:36

Another yes for the prep machine.

I couldn't tell the difference in the temperatures when my partner was training me on how to make a bottle. So the machine means I can do the night feeds comfortably :)

betterbemoreorganised · 27/05/2018 07:41

I bought a three pack of giant muslins from mothercare

TakeMe2Insanity · 27/05/2018 07:43

We were advised by a hsopital dr against the tt prep machine as it did not kill the bacteria in the milk. Boiling hot water kills the bacteria in powered milk. You can put a small amount of boiling water on to the milk, then add fridge cold previously boiled water to the milk boiling water.

Foodylicious · 27/05/2018 07:44

Aden and anais on Amazon or sometimes in the sale on their own website

firsttimedad79 · 27/05/2018 07:45

@TakeMe2Insanity the machine gives out boiling water first, then you add the powder, shake and then add the cold. So it does get boiling water first :)

melissasummerfield · 27/05/2018 07:46

Tk maxx always have the giant muslins in, and about 6 months ago my mum got my the biggest ones ive ever seen from Lidl so that might be worth a visit too?

I have friends that loved the perfect prep but i never had one and managed just fine Smile

MissRainbowBrite · 27/05/2018 07:50

Frugi do gorgeously patterned muslins, pack of 2 for £9.80 at the minute. They also do an extra large version which they call a swaddle muslin.

wasthataburp · 27/05/2018 07:52

Our midwives said in all the years the pp has been out they have never seen one baby who has gotten ill etc so no problem with it at all. We have one and it's literally the most useful thing we have. Definitely worth getting one. Just make sure you change the filters with proper tt ones and clean it out. It's common sense really.

glasshalfsomething · 27/05/2018 07:59

Yes he’s to the PP. just keep it clean and change the filters and you’ll be fine.

Why do you want the massive muslins? I only ask as so many people gave me Muslims, including the large ones. I didn’t use that many, and the large ones were just too big. Swaddling in the early days, but only needed 1-2. I guess you could use as a shale for BFing (my baby refused to be covered so no go for me). Not sure on other uses tho?

Astrid2 · 27/05/2018 09:28

I use my big muslins for light blankets in summer, breastfeeding shawl, picnic blanket, comforter and to cover the pram from the sun.

User12879923378 · 27/05/2018 09:45

Ordered mine from Amazon. These are a bit bigger than the Aden and Anais ones. We had both, as well as small ones for mopping and slightly larger ones for swaddling newborns (our daughter is very long so we had to progress through sizes quite quickly!)

User12879923378 · 27/05/2018 09:49

Always worth seeing if you can get them second hand as well. We inherited the Aden and Anais ones from a cousin. Good wash and off you go.
