When to make a booking appointment?

As above really....I know the appointment is at about 8-10 weeks pregnant usually but I'm currently 4+1 according to LMP and seems a bit early to book as there are so many who miscarry between 4 and 6 weeks, I don't want to have to phone up and cancel. Or am I being silly and should phone on Tuesday?

It’s never too early. Some women around me have waited too late to book their booking appointment so the hospital couldn’t book them in. They’ve ended up having their care at hospitals ages away. I self referred at 5 weeks.

There are signs up in our GP surgery and sure start centre saying that you should self refer to the midwife as soon as you get your positive test, so they can fit you in for your booking appt at the right time (8-10 weeks). They book your 12 week scan for you at the booking in appointment so have to have it by 10 weeks as otherwise the hospital will have no scan availability at the right time for the NT test.

If you wait until 2missed periods as pp suggested you would be 8w approx and I think that's too late - around here they like to see you at that time and get the 12w scan booked etc, if you didn't call until 8w you would have to wait a few weeks for a booking in appt and then could be late having your scan which impacts your downs screening etc.

Appreciate it may be different for other areas but I'd probably call and ask the drs reception what you do at about 6w.

Congratulations!!

Thanks, I'll phone next week then as mw only visiting the surgery once a week according to their website. Really worried it's twins as I'm 4+5 and been having flashes of mild nausea for a few days which is quite early. Twins are also in my familyHmmConfused
