  1. Exclusively breastfed baby pooping after (and sometimes even during) every feed? This symptom started about 2/3 days ago. Can hear his digestive system/bowel grumbling during a feed, and before you know it a mushy, mustard-coloured poo is in his nappy.

  2. Skin shedding/peeling like a snake? This came on [to this extent] just yesterday. Before then skin was dry but wouldn't shed/peel/flake. Doesn't appear to be red, raw or sore underneath - literally just peeling/shedding. No signs of pain or discomfort from baby in regards to this, just very strange-looking.

Will contact MW, was just wondering if any other parents had experienced this with their newborn?

Yes I remember both.

I love a brand newborn.

Hey, all! Thanks for all the reassurance - has definitely put my mind at ease.

To answer a few of your questions:

My baby was exactly 1 week early (I gather that the peeling thing is more known to happen to babies who are late?)

I've so far given my baby 1 bath following a 'poonami' during changing, which was 2 days ago. Didn't want to expose my newborn's skin to a harsh soap, so bathed him in nothing but water with a little bit of coconut oil in it. I used coconut oil as I read that it has antibacterial properties.

I did actually apply organic olive oil to his skin once (a few hours before making this thread) having read that it was good/safe for baby's skin, but a few of you have pointed out that it isn't so I'll look into that - thanks!

Yes and yes! Mine shed skin for ages and eventually we used aveeno baby sensitive which helped a lot. You dont need to use any products though, if you'd rather just wait it out.

Don’t put anything in the bath. Water on it’s own is fine.

Here you go RE. Olive oil (I have eczema and did a lot of research about how to reduce likelihood of my baby getting it)

Normal.

I'm on my third breastfed baby and all of their poos have been liquid.

Dd3 only goes every few days at 11 weeks so it often leaks. Dcs 1 and 2 went loads of times a day for ages.
