I've had this for a few days now, it's a constant dull ache, it doesn't come and go. It's the same as period pain. Has anyone else experienced? Had this early on with DS1 and DS2 but it was completely gone by this stage with them.

Hia try not to worry its probably your muscles stretching, im sure if you call your midwife she will put your mind at ease

Hi HIWBB

I never had this, but I've heard of it, it's something to do with the muscles stretching as you get a bit bigger and nothing to worry about. I am sure that someone who has experience will pop along and advise you better, or you could have a word with your midwife if you are concerned.

Wanted to say hi, though

It's sometimes something called 'round abdominal pain', give your midwife a call if you are worried, but yes, it's very common.

Hi there HIWBB, I'm 17 nearly 18 weeks pg and still get this from time to time. It is almost cerainly stretching and muscles pinging iyswim. However, if only for your own peace of ind, ring your midwife, at the very least she can let you listen to baby's heartbeat so you feel reassured. Panicky time this pg isn;t it?

Hopeitwontbebig · 18/05/2007 18:26

I had this a couple of weeks ago when was about 24 weeks. My midwife told me it was prob just streching pains and not to worry as long as it didn't get worse and there was no bleeding and it stopped after a few days. I found it was better if I just rested with my feet up and got dh to do everything for me! was all gone after a few days.

sure you are fine just let midwife know about it and she can put your mind at ease.

Hi HIWBB

I normally see you on Sept '07. I went to the hospital to get checked out last week (at 22 weeks) after phoning them for advice. After checking that I didn't have a UTI, they said that it is just stretching pain.

Hopeitwontbebig · 19/05/2007 15:25

Thanks for the reassurance ladies, and hi Lou.

I'm wondering whether I can lay some of the blame here on my IBS, it does tend to get worse during pregnancy.

I get IBS too. Or at least I did before I got pregnant. I'm 18 weeks now and have been getting lower abdominal cramps too. And sharp pains when I cough, sneeze or get up too quickly. This is such an anxious time isn't it. I envy people who don't worry about these things
