Anterior placenta.

Any ladies had an anterior placenta? Had a consultant appointment today and was told he placenta looks anterior and high. Was also told it could mean it takes longer to feel kicks etc (felt a bit sad about this but such is life!).

When did you feel kicks with an anterior placenta?
When could other people (DP, DC etc) feel kicks?
Anything I need to know about an anterior placenta?

23 weeks for me, wasn't long after that for dh to feel the kicks.

I had an anterior placenta with my DD and felt kicks around 23 weeks too. I didn't feel as much movement as other people reported throughout the pregnancy and my midwife said the placenta was acting like a cushion between the baby and me, if that makes sense!

My DD was born five weeks early after being induced due to reduced movement. So if you feel less movement like me, it's still really important to know what's normal for your baby and get it checked out if you're worried. I went in twice and they were always more than happy to monitor the baby if I was a bit concerned about lack of movement.

With my first I felt first movements around 18 weeks so was hoping it'd be sooner this time. However it was after 20 weeks, maybe 21-22? We'd found out at 20 week scan that placenta was anterior hence the delay in feeling movements.

Anterior in both pregnancies. Ds, I first felt kicks around 24 weeks and dh could never feel him move.

This pregnancy, higher placenta, could feel him/her move at 16 weeks and dh has been able to see them/feel them since at least 24 weeks if not before.

I apparently have an anterior placenta but felt my first tiny kick at 16+6 (first baby) and have never had a problem feeling him kick or roll (infact I'm now 35+5 and he doesn't stop 💙), DH felt first kick at 22 weeks. 🤷🏻‍♀️

Anterior in both pregnancies. First time no kicks until 24 ish, second time started at 15w. I never had an issue feeling movement - I was thoroughly punched kicked and pummelled in trimester three!

Shouldn’t cause you any real issue if it’s high. Some say that it leads to an increase in back to back presentation at birth but my MW strenuously denies that... it. CAn be a bit harder to pick up a heartbeat I think as well and scans can take a bit longer.

I was sure I felt movement at about 23 weeks, but in hindsight I think I started feeling it at about 20 - but it was always at the side for quite a while. I'm now 32 weeks and feel a lot of movement, but it's still noticeably weaker in the middle of my stomach, where the placenta is. I was really upset when I was told (very anxious pregnancy so desperate for reassurance of movement) but it really is just a few weeks longer for most women.

Around 16 weeks, but never felt stronger kicks after that. Occasionally could see an elbow or foot sticking out, and the very occasional kick but not really. I was a bit sad really and wanted to feel my baby kicking about!

I’ve had anterior and posterior and movements were a lot later and a lot less with anterior. Totally different experience tbh.

I’m currently pregnant with my first baby, I also have anterior high. I first felt baby kicks proper ones at 24 weeks. I am now 26 weeks and although I sometimes worry about not feeling them as much as others I still do if I sit down chill out and concentrate on my bump. Now at 26 weeks other people can feel my baby kick but only when and if he kicks hard enough!

Please don’t worry, I did at first because I thought he just wasn’t moving but I reassure you he or she will kick at some point and you will know the difference between it being a kick or gas.

I'm on my 3rd baby and 3rd anterior placenta. With dd and ds it was around 23 weeks but with this pregnancy I felt movement from 16 weeks and now at 22+4 it's non stop very hard kicks and movements. They are really low down and only every now and then will I feel him do it high up. I think it all depends on the person aswell as how high or low the placenta is.

I have an anterior low placenta. I first felt her kick at 18-19 weeks. Husband felt them at 20 weeks. They felt like tiny nudges. Now almost 28 weeks and I feel her all the time. I can also see her moving when looking at my belly.

About 26 weeks in first pregnancy - dh didn’t feel until 30+ weeks. I also was monitored quite a lot due to reduced movement (4/5 times) and really had to focus at times to feel her.

3rd preg 1st anterior movement felt from 14 weeks and dp could feel at 21 weeks

Same here. First pregnancy and it was 21 weeks when I started feeling obvious and regular movement. At 24 weeks he's very active, but I only really feel movements very low down, right on my knicker line. Very little if any of it can be felt from the outside.

I was a bit worried at first, but post anomaly scan they got more and more obvious.

I had an anterior placenta with DS2 and didn't feel kicks until about 26 weeks.

Was v strange to me, as with DS1 I could feel a few tiny kicks at 12 weeks! DS2 was perfectly fine and healthy though. The placenta did move down quite a bit later on - then I soon felt like I was being pummelled to death from inside, as I had with my first pregnancy

I have an anterior placenta, currently 23weeks and ive felt proper kicks for about a week, before movements for a couple of weeks. Kicks and movement arent regular or consistent but feel some daily.
My consultant told me I still should kicks etc the placenta isn't really that big so unlikely all kicks, punches, elbows, knees heads etc will land on the placenta.

Same as pp, around 23 weeks. In hindsight I was quite grateful. As soon as ds started to kick, he didn't fucking stop, until the day I had him. It was so painful sometimes, all i did was cry and eat paracetamol. Even as I was giving birth, dh said he could see his feet kicking about. Little git.

My first child was anterior and I must have been odd cause I felt movement pretty early. Around 18 weeks? My partner could feel the kicks by 20 weeks too.
Currently pregnant with my second and it’s posterior this time. Pretty much the same. I felt pulling from about 16 weeks, kicks around 18 and partner could feel at 20.
