Am i being totally unresonable to expect my boyfriend to quit smoking when im pregnant, i smoked quite alot before i found out i was pregnant and fortunatley for me i cant smoke because it makes me throw up but it doesnt stop me having cravings for a cigarette and im ashamed to say that when he smoked i have taken a couple of puffs on the occasional cigarette that he's been smoking and i dont want the temptation to be there!
Am i being unfair expecting him to change because im Pregnant?

He should at least go outside to smoke. He should get sued to doing this anyway tbh because smoking inside and a baby definately don't mix.

*used not sued lol

No, you aren't. Passive smoking is very harmful to children, and there's lots of evidence to suggest that children of smokers are far more likely to smoke themsleves than children of non-smokers. So I'd want him to stop once the baby is born anyway. Not to mention the increased risk of cot death if a parent is a smoker. So he might as well quit now. He'll live longer for it...

He doesnt smoke in the house anyway, its just when we're outside and he has one, i just really want to smoke! have tried asking him to quit and he has in the week but he seems to smoke more at the weekend now! (or is it just my imagination) he tastes horrible afterwards also (i'd never noticed that before) the fact that i have had a few puffs here and there makes me have more cravings for it (not to mention make me feel incredible guilt)

Your midwife might be able to give you some advice/ contact numbers on managing your smoking cravings.

My DH stopped with me when I was trying to get preggars and it has been soooo helpful.Would have been really hard if he hadn't and I think i would have felt really resentful too. Also you will be more tempted to start again once bambino comes if he is still puffing -and as everyone else has said -you don't want to be a smoker when you have kids for so many reasons.

Don't know how you can get him to stop -maybe he doesn't realise how dodgy it is to smoke when you have a baby and how hard it is for you now and needs to be told in clearer terms? Good luck.

My dh is still smoking. I smoked a lot before finding out I was preg but just can't bear it now! Dh smokes in the garden but stinks of it and it makes me reach. I really upset him in bed the other night by pushing him away when he tried to kiss me coz the taste as just hideous.
