Too much movement?!

36+1 today. My baby has not stopped moving ALL DAY. My stomach is visibly rippling as I type and in between ripples we've had many bouts of hiccups. I can't lie down or relax because it's so vigorous.

Freaking out a bit. DC1 was a wriggler, but not like this.

Have you been kick counting so you know what the normal pattern is at a certain time?
That should give you the best feel for extra activity levels (No shame if not, I’m 29 weeks pregnant with DS2 and always forgetting!)
Also have you been doing anything unusual today that would make you feel baby more? Eating sweet things, lying down more etc etc?
I’m sure it’ll all be ok, but If I was worried about extra movement I would call the 24h triage line just in case (assuming you’ve been given the number?) my friend is a midwife and she said she’d much rather see 100 women whose babies were perfectly fine and they were worrying about nothing rather than 1 woman where something had gone wrong.
Good luck!

Probably worth getting it checked out especially if it's out of character. Excessive movement can be a sign of foetal distress. Hopefully it's not and your baby is just having a silly day, but it's definitely better to be safe than sorry.

Just to add... DS1 had super active days and quieter days when I was pregnant in third trimester. I did actually go in twice because of it and he was perfectly fine both times

If it's a change from normal you should get it checked out. It's not as concerning as a drop in movement but still a change.

My babies always move loads! If it's normal for yours don't worry about it :) DS1 didn't stop kicking me even all through labour!

I called triage. Midwife wasn't overly concerned. Offered to let me come in and be monitored but didn't pressure me. Have decided to stay put and hope it stops soon so that I can get some sleep.
