Bleeding at 5w

I am exactly 5 w with DC3. Just got some brown and red blood when I wiped. I know that bleeding can be OK, but also of course that it isn't always. Feeling a little sad and scared. DP and I had just been chatting about thing and starting to get a little excited. Wish I knew things will be ok.

@GruffaloPants I don't have too much to say but i could see no one had responded. Is everything okay? I think some spotting can be normal in early days?

GruffaloPants · 22/05/2018 16:40

Thanks @Wowthisisreal , I really appreciate you taking the time to answer.

I've continued to bleed since posting. No pain or clots, but definitely more than spotting, and fresh blood. So things aren't looking great. GP referred me to the EPU, but they won't see me as too early to scan. So basically I have to wait it out, if I still get a positive pregnancy test in a week they will scan me then.

It's going to be a long week for us.

Fingers crossed for a positive test! I think no pain is a good sign - would you consider paying for an early scan? I think from 6 weeks you can hear a heartbeat? X

GruffaloPants · 22/05/2018 18:03

I should be able to get an early scan anyway between 6 and 7 weeks, right now I'm only just 5 weeks so will have to be patient. It is hard!

Does it feel like a period? Fingers crossed all okay. I'm only 4+4 and already I am struggling with the thought of waiting! I can't imagine how you are feeling.

EmD6 · 22/05/2018 19:36

Hi Gruffalo,

I sympathise with you. I'm between 3-5 weeks (only one odd bleed since being off pill so unsure yet) and today had a bleed which has completely thrown me. It was bright red and with cramps but after the initial bleed I haven't had anything since so I am hoping it's just spotting.

There's so much information out there about what it can all mean it's rather overwhelming. I'm just praying that it comes to nothing and doesn't reoccur.

Thinking of you! Flowers

Mine does feel a bit like a period wow, though perhaps marginally lighter.

Poor you Em, it is hard waiting. I had early bleeding with my DD1 and all was fine. Sounds more like what you have than the more persistent bleeding I have now.

I had quite a heavy bleed with my DD, it really could have been a period. Also similar with DS so there is still hope. Some women have bleeding all through pregnancy and don't even realise they are pregnant. I could well believe it after the bleeding I had with mine. If I hadn't felt so sick and been trying to get pregnant could have missed it.

GruffaloPants · 22/05/2018 20:37

Thanks @MigGril I'm crossing all my fingers that I get the same outcome.

@GruffaloPants is everything okay?

GruffaloPants · 03/06/2018 16:33

Hi @Wowthisisreal Thanks so much for asking. Unfortunately I had a miscarriage. Luckily it was straightforward, with no need for medical intervention. Basically I just had a normal period (and negative pregnancy test). Now trying again.

I'm so sorry to hear that @GruffaloPants Good luck for this month x

bessie84 · 04/06/2018 07:43

in similar position here. im currently 6-7 weeks. had scan thursday, saw teeny baby with heartbeat - then had full weekend of mega cramps and brown gushing bleeds. woke up feeling "different" this morning if that makes sense. was just getting my head round it all and now this. get married next week. everythings a mess. waiting on epu to open to see what they suggest. SIGH

sorry for your loss Gruffalo x

GruffaloPants · 04/06/2018 11:03

Thanks wow.

Sorry to hear that Bessie. Positive that you've already had a normal scan, I hope you get into the EPU soon and that things are ok.
