Labour or just pains?

Hey all, currently 39+2 with my first
Been having the most uncomfortable pain in my back, but not sure if it’s contractions or not as it never really goes away..
not had any tightening or pain in my tummy so not really sure if it just is plain old back pains, it’s only really on the bottom right of my back but super uncomfortable :(

It could be the start of something but contractions should come and go. With my first I had very light contractions all through the night which were about an hour apart, by 6am they ramped up in intensity and were getting closer together. Maybe have a bath and rest in case labour is impending!

A good rule of thumb generally is if you aren't sure if they are are contractions or not then they probably aren't.

Obviously there's the occasional lucky woman out there whose contractions when they are actually in labour aren't that painful and they don't realise, but I suspect those women are relatively few and far between.
