I'm currently 33weeks
The past couple of weeks I've felt tightening down below, didn't think much of it just assumed things were changing and prepping themselves ready for the coming weeks. Today in the shower I attempted to shave despite not seeing over bump! Felt so swollen so once out the shower I got a strategically placed mirror to find out what was going on. I literally looks like I've been ran over by a bus!! Help?! There are a couple of black cyst looking spots.
Called midwife talked her through everything and she seems to think it's nothing to worry about says it's probably because my body is producing more blood and sending it to my uterus.
Thankyou if you've read all this! Anyone have any insight or has this happened?
Should I not be worried or shall I call doctored tomorrow and get checked out incase?

Google “varicose veins pregnancy”

The things people never mention about the joys of being pregnant.

GlitterAntlers · 20/05/2018 22:03

Just wait till you've had baby, then it looks like the bus reversed back over it a few times for good measure.

Probably varicose veins. There's a lot of pressure down there.

Babybear1117 · 20/05/2018 22:07

@FoxgloveStar @GlitterAntlers thank you for your replies I have googled varicose veins but they're more tunnel like where as this is cyst/wart size. Just completely getting me down!
Is there anything I can do to minimise the swelling?

Maybe ask midwife to have a peek next appointment?

You could maybe sit on a pillow or a pack of frozen peas in a towel?

Sounds awful. Will be worth it though x

AiredaleFan · 20/05/2018 22:24

I had these in my last pregnancy. I thought it was an ingrown hair at first and tried to sort it out, ended up popping it and it would not stop bleeding! They will go as soon as the pressure eases when you've had the baby. They're official name is angiokeratoma.

Babybear1117 · 20/05/2018 22:43

@GlitterAntlers will do and thank you will give that a go definitely!

@AiredaleFan thankyou! Glad to hear it's more common than I expected and will not be trying to pop it Blush

The pressure to your bits is unreal and mine were very swollen for most of 3rd trimester and did end up with one large varicose vein down there, it was dreadful I cried for yonks! But everything will all eventually go back to usual size after baby so don't worry about that. Witch Hazel on a sanitary towel in your pants is very good for swelling, and I always throw a salt bath at anything for good measure lol

Babybear1117 · 21/05/2018 08:23

@Nogodsnomasters thankyou!
I had a salt bath last night to see if it would help and I will go pick up some witch hazel today! Thankyou for your advice Thanks

I had these but only noticed them after I'd given birth. I was too scared to look before.

There's a lot going on down there and a lot you don't have control over. Doesn't sound like anything to worry about as your midwife says

Babybear1117 · 21/05/2018 09:10

@Ceebs85 thanks! I wish I had never looked to be honest!! Things just felt different so I thought I better check out the situation! Confused

@babybear no problem, glad to have helped. I also used the witch Hazel directly after birth in the hospital, midwife was happy to give me some, because the pressure of pushing down in that direction makes things worse for a while after too.

Smellyjo · 21/05/2018 16:56

Ohhh the joys. I think I may have something similar! Felt a small lump on labia last wk as if I had an ingrowing hair, with some difficulty examined and it looks like a blood blister. Was tempted to squeeze but logistics prevented that! Dh had a look (is medical) and said that pregnancy makes tissue grow in odd places and nowt to worry about.

Babybear1117 · 22/05/2018 11:57

@Smellyjo not nice is it! I feel like my body is turning inside out hahaa
