How much notice for induction?

I was just wondering how much notice any of you had when you were previously booked in for an induction? I'm currently 40+1 and based on a growth scan they're estimating baby is currently over 10lbs, so they said they wouldn't likely let me go that late, however they've booked me in for another scan on weds and a discussion with the consultant on thurs, which I'm guessing is when they'll decide to book for me an induction. But I'm assuming I wouldn't be going in to be induced the next day, I'm worried it won't be until the next week by which point I'll be nearly 2 weeks overdue and the size of the baby is making me incredibly anxious! I know growth scans aren't super accurate but I'm having so much anxiety about it, I just want to get baby out before he gets any bigger!

I was induced with my first in 2014 due to 3x reduced movements so after a check on Wednesday night I had another consultant appointment on Thursday and was admitted Friday and had first pessary at 5pm. 24hrs later was in labour room (I'm consultant based this time too!) And baby born at 7.50am Sunday.

You litterly may get 24hrs notice - depends on what consultant says and what your hospital is like etc.

Good luck mama

Just depends and depends if they have beds free for "planned" inductions etc...

Hello. I went in the Monday evening for 3 x reduced movements and had the pessary Tuesday at 7.30pm. Felt nothing until first contractions about Tuesday 11.30pm and baby born Wednesday at 620am.

Good luck!

With my first I was booked in for induction on my due date. The week before my blood pressure started to go up so I was on monitoring every other day, the Saturday I went in and it was showing at the level my consultant marked as to be induced (140/90) and I was admitted and induced that morning. I had my shopping list in my bag as that was our plan before our induction on Tuesday to stock up!

Thanks for your replies, feeling more reassured now, hopefully the ward won't be too busy so I'll get booked in quickly!

The hospital I'm going to is same as first pregnancy and there is only 4 beds to a large room (I'm talking each bed has enough space for a mini bus beside it!)

It's a bit crazy but will never fault the care I've been given there!

Good luck mamas!
