Is this labour or am I being teased?!

39+6 with DC2. First labour my waters breaking was the first I knew about it. Had show, waters and Contractions all kick off at the same moment. So I’m not sure what slow/early labour feels like.
Woke up in the night for a pee and since then have been having painful tightenings. I have to breath through them.... BUT they are very short lived. Like 10-20 seconds. They are a bit all over the place too. Are these contractions or just my body teasing me and I could be like this for days? I do t want to call my mum the 1.5 hours to loom after DD if it’s all for nothing!

Anyone has labour start like this and give birth on the same day?

Id say its the start but it could still take a little while yet.

Is mum 1.5h away?

readysetcake · 20/05/2018 07:48

Thanks @NapQueen I really hope so. I’m so ready now!
Yeah it will take Mum 1.5 hours to drive. So probably closer to 2 hours by the time she’s packed some things. Long way to come and then me still be pregnant in 2 days time!

We have a couple of back up friends if things suddenly kick off. But DD has never been left with them. I’m actually quite happy about going in alone as well actually. But think DH wants to be there so should get something sorted for DD.

Pains every 5 mins on average. But still not lasting long. No show or anything.
Anyone had them this regular and short and it all stopped?

I'd at least give your mum a heads up so she's ready to come if things progress.
Both mine started with on and off niggles that I wasn't sure meant anything or not. With DC2 these just got gradually worse. With DC1 though my first real contraction floored me to the point I had to suddenly sit down half way down the stairs.
At least if your mum is on standby with her bag packed she may get to you a bit quicker.

Lemontwist · 20/05/2018 10:16

Oh and I didn't have an obvious show for either of mine.

readysetcake · 20/05/2018 13:30

Pains died down and I thought it was over but they picked up again. Went to get checked and I’m 3cm. They did a little stretch so hopefully things will progress on steadily from
Now. Mum is on her way!

Good luck @readysetcake

memaymamo · 20/05/2018 14:24

Good luck! All mine were slow and steady. Waters broke while in full labour on the delivery bed for all of them so your story sounds very familiar.

ClangerTwanger · 20/05/2018 17:12
