12 weeks - bleeding with clots but no pain

Hi all,

Just woken up to find I’m bleeding - I’ll be around 12 weeks tomorrow (14 weeks from LMP, 12 weeks from early scan dates) the blood is just like my period has started, stringy clots but I have no pain,

I’ve rung 111, I have an OOH Drs appointment at 10:45, my 12 week scan is next Friday,

I’m scared and lonely - DH is saying it’s all fine, he’s probably petrified but doesn’t want to scare me more, just looking for some kind words this morning

Hiya
This must be very frightening for you. Do you have a local early pregnancy unit you could ring instead?

Aw, sorry to hear it. Fingers crossed everything is ok. Lots of people get bleeding in pregnancy and continue the pregnancy as normal. They'll probably refer you to an early pregnancy unit- though you might have to wait for a scan as ours isn't open on weekends. Take care Flowers

I had a massive bleed with DD2 just before my 12 week scan which started quite like a period. It was caused by a subchorionic hematoma, which apparently is quite common in the first half of pregnancy. I had a couple more horror movie style bleeds over then next couple of weeks and it scared the heck out of me, but DD is almost 3 years old now and beyond perfect.

I was told 'no pain' was a good sign.

Will be thinking of you today xx

Thank you everyone - I’m in Bristol so unfortunately none of the EPU’s are open today - they apparently scan in an emergency, but I’ve had early scans and know it’s not ectopic so I don’t think I’ll get a scan today - the EPU have been great so far so hopefully I’ll get one tomorrow.

The dr I spoke to said that no pain is a good sign also so just holding on to that with everything I’ve got - I’ve been so anxious this whole pregnancy, obsessively googling, but feel strangely calm now, strange how we can hold it together when something is actually happening!

Hi,
I had bleeding with clots a couple of weeks ago. I had an emergency scan at EPU and thankfully baby was fine and had a strong heartbeat - I was 6+5 then. The bleeding has stopped and they couldn't really give me a reason for it. Hope everything is ok with you xx

I had a big bleed too at 14 weeks and work in Bristol happened after EPU was shut. I was taken to southmead A&E as it was closest and they scanned me in their maternity ward bit. Maybe you could try there

Im now 33 weeks so bleeds can be ok

Just got back from the out of hours dr, because I don’t have any pain and because the blood isn’t going into a pad, they’re not going to scan me, felt reassured for about 5 minutes and now I’m scared again!

She’s given me antibiotics because my temperature was a teeny bit high, and the dip test for urine showed up for blood (which may have been from my bleeding), but she said it wouldn’t hurt the baby and was better to be safe than sorry.

I’m going to see how I go and ring the EPU if things don’t settle, I have my dating scan on Friday, but will they be pissed off if I turn up despite having had bleeding?!
