Does time actually fly after tri 2?

This might sound like a silly question but people keep telling me now Im half way " time will fly" is it actually going to go really quickly?
Im thinking do I need to start buying things and planning? Ive bought maybe 3 packs of baby grows but thats about it.
I would like time to fly in a way because I cannot wait to meet my baby already but I dont know if people are just saying it or if I actually need to start preparing haha!

Suppose it’s personal but this is my fourth pregnancy and I always found that the first trimester flew but from there on out it drags. I am currently 16 weeks and feel like since I hit the second trimester it’s completely dragged. With my other pregnancies the third trimester in particular was deathly slow.

mustbemad17 · 19/05/2018 20:22

37+1 here...time has NOT flown as my dd has approached. It has crept in such a snail like fashion i feel as if i have been pregnant for half my life. I hate people telling me 'not long now' or 'it will soon be here' because it makes me want to bonk them on the head with a spoon!!

Can't help re the baby prep, we had everything we needed by the time i was 25 weeks as we bought 2nd hand when we saw bargains. I guess maybe some folk think you might magically run out of time if you don't get started!

Girlwiththearabstrap · 19/05/2018 20:35

Just buy when you feel like it. In the days of internet shopping/Amazon prime/24 hour supermarkets it doesn't take long to buy what you need.
As for time flying... I reckon 20 plus weeks goes sort of quick. The third trimester does start to drag. And from very recent experience, the 9 days since my due date have taken about a decade.

Agent13 · 19/05/2018 20:38

No it drags. I feel like I’ve been pregnant for about 15 years. I’ve not been feeling well though so that could be the reason.

JustSeeingHowManyCharactersWeC · 19/05/2018 20:59

Nope, time drags!

SoyDora · 19/05/2018 21:01

Not in my experience! It drags.

TopKittyKat · 19/05/2018 21:11

Definitely drags. I was desperate to finish work and each day was like an eternity! I was happier when I finished work and maternity leave started but then I went two weeks overdue, so it still felt like forever.

Shmithecat · 19/05/2018 21:13

Nope. It drags. This delightful meme is especially true. Enjoy!

For me the first trimester was excruciatingly long probably due to the morning sickness. The second trimester yes did fly by. The 3rd trimester however back to slowness again, particularly the last month seriously drags on.

Baby2018 · 19/05/2018 21:18

hahaha @mustbemad17 " bonk them on the head with a spoon"

yeah I thought it wouldnt fly to be honest, Ive heard people saying the 3rd trimester drags but people keep saying to me " time will fly" and " what have you bought?" and Im like, a few baby grows...

I already feel like the 1st trimester took a long time haha so I was kinda hoping maybe they were right even though Id heard different from Mums who were desperate for the baby to make an appearance at the end of tri 3

I'm only allowed one 'kill' during my pregnancy, so beating people with spoons is more desirable than burying them in concrete my tolerence levels have dropped dramatically

gryffen · 19/05/2018 22:11

First pregnancy in 2014 dragged as found out March and had her November.

This time round found out in November and due august and I'm like wtf did time go?

So this time I'm saying it's flown in.

Eggoispreggo · 19/05/2018 22:12

For me personally nothing has flown in any trimester!! Am 34+5 and will second all the PPs who said they've felt pregnant for at least 10 years!!!
I just want to meet this baby!!!!! I hope it goes quickly for you Smile

Waitingonasmiley42 · 19/05/2018 22:16

I found it went quickly between about 24 weeks and 34. Then it went back to time standing still. I've just remembered how much I hated being pregnant. Must remember this when I feel broody

mustbemad17 · 19/05/2018 22:35

I almost feel cheated. First two pregnancies were amazing, they really did fly by...even going over wasn't an issue. This one has been hell from start to finish & has put me off for life.

Aw12345 · 19/05/2018 22:37

Only 29 years weeks but I'd say time has dragged more than I thought it possibly could. Pregnancy is not my cup of tea!!!

pastabest · 19/05/2018 22:44

I've been in the last trimester for at least a year and I'm still only 36 weeks Angry

Colonelpopcorn · 19/05/2018 22:50

I’m 38+4 and looking back it’s flown but went slowly while I was ‘living it’ if you see what I mean.
Been getting prepared today and one thing I bought I thought ‘how long have I had that?’ So a quick search of my emails told me I’d had it since the beginning of January. January feels an age ago, but equally i can’t tell you where time has gone.
Very ready to meet baby now but could do with just a few more days to get all my jobs finished. Smile

theycallmebabydriver · 19/05/2018 23:09

I'm 36+3, this has felt like 30 weeks plus 15 years, I swear to god I've now been pregnant half of my life and there still may be up to 6 more weeks of this. I too am glad I didn't waste my 'kill' early on.

Mrstobe90 · 20/05/2018 01:28

My pregnancy dragged, especially at the end. Was so glad that my dd came at 39 weeks as I couldn't handle another week (or 3 if I was really unlucky)

PrimeraVez · 20/05/2018 04:33

For me first tri really dragged - I felt like shit, was ridiculously anxious after previous MC and couldnt explain to anyone why I was acting so strangely.

Second tri flew by.

Now I’m 36w and every day feels like a month. Am sooooo sick of people saying to me ‘not long to go now!’ when in reality it could be another 5 weeks or so!

TinyPawz · 20/05/2018 07:40

You all are not a comfort. Currently 14w and first trip took forever as was panicking due to previous loses. I was hoping that the remainder would whizz by. Maybe not so much from reading your replies

TinyPawz · 23/05/2018 17:37

I'm 14+3. I feel like I've been pregnant forever. 1st trimester anxiety and now the sloooowwww wait til anomaly scan. Hopefully after that it'll fly.

TinyPawz · 23/05/2018 17:38

Omg didn't realise I had already posted a few days ago. See time has stood still that I had completely forgot 🤦‍♀️
