Sleeping on stomach whilst pregnant

Is this really bad? I always slept on stomach before pregnant, and keep ending up doing it still (24 weeks pregnant). Am I damaging the baby doing this? (strangely it's my boobs that feel uncomfy, not my bump - although kicks are more noticable)

Thats how I sleep Twiglett - beraly on front but just resting on one hip with top leg bent and pillow between legs.

PotPourri - that's how I normally sleep too. First time I was so pregnant I was so paranoid I started sleeping on my side from 5 weeks (makes me laugh now, but at least I got used to it early!). What I did find really helpful was to wrap my arms round a pillow so I was effectively lying with my stomach on that.

I don't lie on my tummy, but I do notice that if I lie too much on my side, ie a bit on my bump I get a kick in the relevant area! Kind of like 'oi! get off my patch!'

I don't think it's harmful but at some point you will find it uncomfortable as Twiglett says. It's lying on your back that isn't recommended. I tend to lie slightly on my front with a bump cushion for support. Probably when I get bigger I'll start using more pillows (but this makes turning over in bed even more of an effort!).

Sam, they say it's best to lie on your left hand side (something to do with blood flow to the uterus). When not pg I usually lie on my right side, but in both my pgs I have switched to the left because I haven't been able to get comfy on my right side. It's as if my body/the baby somehow knows! If I lie any other way, the baby's head (or something large) always seems to be pushing painfully against my tummy.

I'm the same i always slept on my tunmmy and had a hard time trying to get out of the habit, but not long after i found out i was pg i found that my boobs would really hurt me if i did. Also one afternoon i fell asleep on my bed and must have rolled over onto my tummy, when i woke i felt VERY sick for a couple of hours. I think that was babas way of telling me not to do it again, lol I now dont sleep have as good as i used to before being pg but i switch during the night from one side to other all night long, well inbetween my toilet trips of course i am 18 weeks and not really showing that mucb but haven't been able to sleep on my front from being about 7 weeks oh well the joys of becoming a parent i guess!

I sleep on my front too and when I was pregnant with dd ended up using more and more pillows until I got one of those body cushions - I got the extra large one filled with beanbag-type stuff from bumpto3/blooming marvellous. At least there was only one pillow to manoevre in the night when I turned over! I'd really recommend them.

I'm also having this problem Potpourri. I find the pillow under the bump and also one extra under my head help, but I still wake up on my tummy sometimes. I don't think it would harm the baby at this stage, but I do find it hurts my back. I like the sound of that extra large cushion Seabird, but is there any room left for dh in the bed?
