Anterior Placenta

I'm almost 20 weeks with an anterior placenta, third pregnancy. I'm still waiting to feel baby move!
Anyone in the same situation?
When did you first start feeling your baby?
I was so hoping to feel the baby earlier this time being a subsequent pregnancy, it's so frustrating! Pregnancy is one huge waiting game. Agh.

I had this with my first pregnancy and I was over 20wks but not by much. Can’t remebwe exactly, sorry! I’d say you’ll feel movement in the next couple of wks but will be more subtle than with posterior placenta.

Lemontwist · 18/05/2018 21:53

I also have an anterior placenta and on my third pregnancy. I didn't begin to feel definite movements until after 20 weeks. More like about 23 I think when they were consistent but I still went days at a time without feeling much. I'm now almost 31 weeks and feel big movements all the time.
It was weird though and a bit worrying after having two pregnancies that I felt much earlier.
Congratulations Flowers

I found out I had an anterior placenta on Tuesday. I had my suspicions as the movements were questionable and few and far between.
It’s my third baby and i remember feeling them before my 20wk scan.
Strangely, after finding this out I literally started feeling movement the following day. This evening baby hasn’t stopped. It’s having a party! This time last week it was very little if anything at all.

TheHelpfulHiker · 18/05/2018 21:57

With my first baby I felt proper movement from 20wks. This time around I have an anterior placenta and it was more like 22-23 weeks and even then I didn't feel as much as last time. I'm now coming up to 29 weeks and finally in the last 2-3 weeks started feeling lots of kicks but I was worried for a while!

Havetothink · 18/05/2018 21:59

Had anterior with my first, was around 23 weeks before I felt any movement, it was a long wait.

PieAndPumpkins · 18/05/2018 22:03

It is worrying! It was so reassuring to have my scan this week and see my little one wiggling and kicking around. But now at home again i'm in pregnancy denial, even though my belly is looking undeniably pregnant. I am desperate to feel those constant twists and kicks to let me know baby is okay.
Thank you ladies, congratulations to you all too!

@bluebellsinthegarden Isn't that odd they didn't tell you sooner? I was told at my 12 week scan. Are you about 20 weeks now too? Yay for parties in your womb! Grin

Yes i have anterior placenta and currently 31 weeks pregnant.. felt baby about 23 weeks and couldn't really work out patterns until much more recently.

NelleB · 18/05/2018 22:12

You have posted for me. I am 21 weeks, haven’t felt much today, a little worried but apparently it’s not a worry at this point. Trying to relax

LassoOfTruth · 18/05/2018 22:13

I had this! At my 20 week scan she was dancing up a storm in there and I couldn't feel anything. Then I started to definitely feel movements the week after I think. Congratulations!

Thetimehascometo · 18/05/2018 22:24

25 weeks! And now have been in hospital for a week at 33 weeks with reduced movements 🙈

laurG · 18/05/2018 23:03

23 weeks ish. Now 32 and it moves constantly. Don’t worry it will come

SlimGin · 19/05/2018 00:56

I'm 22 weeks today, with anterior placenta and barely any movement that I can feel. Sometimes I'll feel something which I think Is a kick but hard to tell. Definitely nothing my partner can feel yet which is what I really can't wait for. It will happen soon enough for us though just try not to worry! Will update if I feel anything undeniable

PieAndPumpkins · 19/05/2018 17:36

Trying to relax and stay patient! Thank you all, keep us posted, particularly fellow October babies!

Just wanted to update, the past few days I've felt a poking/jabbing in the bottom of my abdomen - almost in my bladder. I'm pretty certain this is my baby?! Anyone relate to this feeling? I'm almost 21 weeks.

I have anterior placenta too, this is my first so have no clue if what I am feeling is kicks or not. I know I feel something that feels like moving but i'm still not sure hoping it gets more obvious soon. Im 21 weeks tomorrow.

SiolGhoraidh · 25/05/2018 09:06

@PieAndPumpkins
Yes, that sounds exactly right. Congratulations on having a little wriggler.

PieAndPumpkins · 25/05/2018 12:18

Ah yay, thanks Siol.

It's hard to tell, isn't it @beth251993? I've felt a bit disgruntled this is my last and I've missed out on potentially weeks and weeks of feeling movements. Even now it's only in the evenings I feel those sharp jabs.

I've had my 20 week scan today and have also been told I have an anterior placenta, which I suspected due to not feeling anything yet, whereas in my first pregnancy kicks started around 18 weeks.

Baby is definitely very active if the scan was anything to go by, but it's definitely disconcerting not being able to feel anything yet.

Hopefully we won't have to wait too long to start feeling something properly!

theruffles · 25/05/2018 15:59

I'm 30 weeks but have an anterior placenta too. I think I first felt proper kicks around week 23 but I remember thinking that something was wrong because someone I know at work who is also pregnant had been feeling kicks since week 15. It did worry me quite a bit at the time but the midwife said movements might be muted because of the position of my placenta. I did feel bubbles from week 21 but as it's my first pregnancy I wasn't quite sure what it was!

SlimGin · 02/06/2018 08:32

Hi all, just wanted to give you an update.
I'm 24 weeks today and the past couple of days I've felt some big, undeniable kicks and even caught some on video. Boyfriend felt the first kick at 22+3.

tappitytaptap · 02/06/2018 08:49

@PieAndPumpkins I'm 22 weeks with anterior placenta with DS2. I feel the low bladder jabbing too, I don't have any basis for comparison as also had anterior with DS1!
