Has anyone got the sure start maternity grant before?

I have just sent off my application for the sure start maternity grant , does anyone know how long this normally takes? And what would be the reason they would turn me down? As I am a first time parent who lives at home with my mum and am on income support and not with the baby's father or have a partner so therefore single.

I received mine a few weeks ago, took 9 days to get it and most get it as long as on a benefit which you are, I was on JSA with my partner.

You will get it, I did with my first and was in exactly the same circumstances as you are.
Takes a couple of weeks I think but it could be sooner.

I was in exactly same circumstances - I don’t remember it taking long, a few weeks maybe. Mine was 2012 though. Good luck
