Less than four weeks after DC2 is due, and I'm shitting myself. It's in Scotland. We live in the SE. DC2 is coming by c section, so I have an idea of timescales etc but I'll still be technically recovering and caring for a new baby and caring for a nearly 4 year old with ASD. By myself. No family nearby.

It seems non-negotiable too, in that DH will not even consider trying to negotiate remote working, or taking a different contract.

What if I don't heal well from my c section? How the hell am I going to cope for a week all by myself? I feel sick thinking about it.

Oh dear OP, a section recovery can be hard but I was pretty okay by 4 weeks. That said, two DC at 4 weeks is tough! Could you look into hiring some help? Even just the local babysitter to give you a hand with bath/bedtimes? I hope your section goes well.

i agree that you need to hire in some help. someone who can come to the house for 4 hours every other day to put on laundry / take the older child for a walk / cook a meal / let you sleep. that would make a big difference.

Do you have family who could come to stay with you for the week? You said not nearby - can they travel to you? You are definitely going to need some help that soon after a C section.

Is it really non-negotiable???

Wow why hasnt he tried to? He sounds really insensitive.

Tbh if he insisted on working away he should have talked to you already about getting someone in to help you, to at least try and ease your stress. He sounds out of touch.
