Hi all!

I had my son back in January and have been off work on stat maternity leave since then. I told them I'd take 9 months and will be due back in October, however I'm not sure I'll be back at all yet - I haven't really worked it out.

They just sent me this email - " We have that you will be returning to work your normal hours on Monday 29th October - can you confirm this please? "

Do I have to confirm or extend yet? I thought I just had to give 30 days notice either way.

Thanks

Do you have a staff handbook you can refer to and just recite it back to them?

haha no, its a tiny business! i'm the only member of staff - I work out my own wages and pension and pay myself. So nothing like that.

I would confirm that would be your expected date of return. Then you can give notice to change it within 30 days if you change your mind.

Your employer has to assume you’ll be taking the full 52 weeks off ( including the theee months unpaid) and if you plan to return before that, you have to let them know 8 weeks before that return date. If you plan on returning on the 29th October, the latest you can confirm this is the 3rd September.
