So I'm freaking out a little and being sent for a growth scan has this happened to anyone before and it was just position of baby and everything was okay? I'm scared to have a huge baby! I know they don't realisticly let the baby get huge but we are measuring way off the 95th percentile line when at 28.4 I was measuring 27 so I was under and now I'm 35cm at 31.5 weeks

My scans and midwife measurements never match. Hopefully the growth scan will ease your mind. Try not to worry.

@speakfriendandenter
Do you know roughly how long you are waiting for a growth scan from the date they referred you? as it was from the consultant up the hospital not my ordinary midwife

I had mine booked from early pregnancy I'm afraid. Hopefully it shouldn't be too long. Although I'm waiting for a physio referral atm and that is taking forever! Maybe contact your midwife in a couple of days if you haven't had an appointment.

If it's any comfort, I had my fundal height measured at the 70th percentile today (I'm also 31.5 weeks), when a scan of the baby on Monday measured the baby as 10th percentile, so I'm pretty sceptical about what either/both of them show!

Passing GP.

Don’t worry, this is very common. It frequently is the case that we are out by a few cm when measuring. SFH is often variable from person to person. Everything is ok the vast vast majority of the time, the scan is to check 1) the size of baby and 2) that there isn’t too much fluid around the baby.

Measurement is just to pick up people at the extremes and I would say that it is very unusual for there to be an actual problem. Go for the scan, but be as relaxed as you can in the mean time.

I measured 5 weeks ahead last time. Baby was actually slightly on the smaller side. This time i've noticed in my notes they're just making it up by not measuring it at all and writing down that it's matching dates perfectly. Which is probably about as accurate as it was last time.
