Weight Gain Almost 2.5st At 29 Weeks All Bump :(

Hi everyone,

Just wondered if any of you have experienced similar.
I am 5ft 7" and pre pregnancy weight was 8st 11lb. I was weighed the beginning of the week and am now 11st 3lb. I am almost 29 weeks. The lady who weighed me was shocked and said 'where are you hiding it? it's all bump, surely not that heavy though'. Then came the nerves....

On the pregnancy weight gain calculator I am, of course, off the scale with regards to weight gain.

I have two girls already, my first being 8lb 9 and second 9lb 13 1/2. I see the consultant next week who is monitoring me due to my previous being so big (and a 27 minute labour which resulted in a major haemorrhage). I am just worried this little monster is going to turn out another beast.

Has anyone put on this much weight all bump and did it turn out to be just all baby in the end (the extra weight being an indicator of size).

Thanks for your help from one embarrassed mamma! x

I'm the same height as you :) Your starting weight was quite low, within the healthy BMI range but at the low end. Therefore it's healthy for you to gain a bit more. I've put on 18lbs at 25 weeks, but my starting weight was at the top end of the healthy BMI!

Those weight gain calculators are just a rough guide. I have looked but I try and take it with a pinch of salt!

Am not a doctor but can be fairly sure it isn't a 2.5 stone baby Wink. Therefore you must be carrying quite a lot of water weight etc at least... The lady weighing you was probably trying to reassure you that you are still slim, did she actually know you before hand? With dd2 I put on about 2 3/4 stone but as I am only 8st usually, still looked slim

Oops posted to soon! Anyway, just meant to say not to rely on her, and often us littlies gain more. In my case I had massive water retention (plus quite a bit of cake retention Wink), so dd2 came in just under 8lbs, so large but not the behemoth I'd feared, and I'd lost 90% of the weight within 3 months of birth and bfing.
