18 weeks pregnant weight gain - normal?

I’m coming up to 18 weeks pregnant and have gained between 10-14 lbs depending on the time of the day. I really don’t understand how as I haven’t changed my normal eating routine and I’m not eating excessively. Is this a normal amount to gain in such a short space of time?

Water, baby, placenta. I think this is all normal. Remember your blood levels increase too. I’m 18 weeks and I’ve gained about that. Don’t worry. Xx

They say you will gain 2lb in the first trimester and 1-2 lb per week in the second so you're spot on. The smaller you were to start with the more you should gain i.e. overweight people should try to keep it to 1lb per week.

You carry more water than you can possibly imagine when you are pregnant. I was tiny and put on a huge amount during pregnancy but it was hugely satisfying to weigh myself in the weeks after giving birth as sometimes I could lose 4 or 5 pounds in three days as my body went back to normal. If you’re eating healthily and feeling good, then your weight seems fine to me.

Yep, it's within the 'normal' range
20 weeks here and I've put on over a stone already!
I put in 3.5 in last pregnancy so am hoping to put in less overall this time as I'm only 5ft 2in.
