17 weeks and scared

I'm feeling scared of how I'll cope, scared about being wholly responsible for a vulnerable human being and scared I won't be a decent parent.

An old friend is pregnant at the moment too, further along than me though, around 24 weeks. I just asked her if she felt the same and she doesn't seem to. She seemed surprised I'd said I was scared/nervous. It's made me feel worse Sad like there's something wrong with me.

I'd say it's pretty normal to be worried, a baby is a big responsibility.

Nope. I'm 23 weeks and scared shitless. I can't understand how we are allowed to have a baby without passing an exam or something. I can't comprehend being a carer for a human life. Especially as I managed to kill an air plant.

I was terrified my whole pregnancy with my twins. When they were born that went virtually immediately. Don't worry you'll be a fab mummy Thanks

31 weeks and also scared about everything that's about to change, I do believe it's normal but that doesn't help!

I'm trying to believe everyone that says 'your natural instinct will kick in' but also just concentrating on the little girl I have inside that I already love so much so I know I'll do what's best for her!

Hi OP,

I’ve seen a few of your posts recently in which you’ve mentioned you struggle with anxiety. Are you getting any help for this during your pregnancy? I think it’s normal to be nervous/scared about looking after an entirely dependent human, but it does sound like you’re anxiety might be getting the better of you.

CathyandHeathcliff · 15/05/2018 18:48

@SoyDora I do suffer with anxiety and I am still seeing a counseller as I was before the pregnancy.
