Not gaining weight in third trimester

I'm currently in week 33 of pregnancy and have gained weight steadily throughout, having put on 10-11 kg in total. Over the past few weeks, now that I'm in the third trimester and "supposed" to be putting on a pound a week, I've stopped gaining weight and have probably lost a pound or two. This is likely because (1) I've been really hungry for my whole pregnancy, but in recent weeks I've lost my appetite due to a large foetus occupying my digestive system and (2) I've been tested and am not terribly far off gestational diabetes so I've cut down on carbs, sugary foods and high fat foods as recommended.

Midwife is happy with bump size and bump seems to be coming along nicely, am noticeably bigger every week and everyone telling me I'm huge so not worried that it's not growing - but I'd say the weight I'm gaining on my bump is being cancelled out by weight loss on the rest of me. Nonetheless it is only minor, nobody else has noticed and I'm not exactly skeletal.

In these circumstances, does not gaining weight in the third trimester really matter?

Hi, I’m in the same boat and no it doesn’t matter. As long as bump is growing as it should and you are not starving yourself then no it doesn’t matter. I am 32 weeks and have just seen my midwife about this today and she said as long as Baby is growing then it’s fine. I was diagnosed with GD 3 weeks ago and have lost 3kgs since then. I haven’t tried to lose weight just tried to keep on top of glucose levels with my diet. Don’t worry
