Hi Girls,

Currently 32 weeks and have started to think about ordering a testing kit for Group B Streptococcus ready to test at 35 weeks.

Im just wondering if any of you brought a test and how you found it? £40 seems quite steep Hmm

xx

Hi, I’ve just got my results back - I got mine for free and it was £35 once you sent it back with the swabs. I thought it was pretty straightforward, and got the results back sharpish - I’d definitely recommend it

Should have added, I got mine from here

Where are you from?
I know in my area I get the test done free automatically when they test your blood in the first trimester or so (routine check).
I also had it checked again when I went for a cervix check (not routine, but asked for it for something unrelated)

It would also depend on what the routine is for when baby has been delivered.
I was GBS + but my labour was so fast that I didn't have any antibiotics during labour , so I had the option to do a few blood sugar checks on my newborn over the next 6 hours to see if it had passed to her or not (it hadn't, chance is low but serious if not caught)
maybe worth looking into what the policies are for your labour ward and post natal ward?
