5 weeks- Spotting after sex

Yesterday after sex, when I went to the loo I noticed bright red spotting. I've had no blood after that, but it's left me paranoid. I'm scared everytime I go to the loo.

I was 5 weeks exactly yesterday, and it just worries me constantly. Someone close to me has had multiple miscarriages so I guess that's in my head.

Has anyone else had this, and was all ok? I haven't had any pregnancy symptoms really except tiredness, shortness of breath and hot flashes.

I bled on and off through my pregnancy (often after sex), and was hospitalised twice throughout my pregnancy. My daughter is now 7 months.
Fingers crossed it's nothing!

Contact your midwife or call your local hospitals woman ward, they'll help xxx

It’s really common in the first trimester. Your cervix is getting more blood because of the pregnancy and intercourse results in contact with your cervix then it can cause bleeding. If it’s just a tiny bit of spotting and no cramping/pain then I would try not to worry; 20% of women have some sort of first trimester bleeding. You could try contacting your nearest EPU but I don’t think they'll see you if you’re only 5 weeks. Fingers crossed it’s nothing.

Thank you. I haven't seen a midwife yet, got one booked for next week. No noticeable pain or any more bleeding. Mild cramping occasionally but had that since finding out
