Ovarian Torsion in Pregnancy

Sorry if this comes up twice, I posted but nothing appeared so don't think it uploaded properly.

I'm currently about 5 and a bit weeks pregnant.

On Thursday afternoon I started suffering from intense pain in my left side around my pelvis area, the pain was awful and I was in agony! My husband quickly realised something wasn't as it should be and called for help, the first time he rang they refused to come but he rang again after getting advice from a friend as my breathing was deteriorating due to the immense pain I was in and they eventually sent a responder who then immediately sent for a crew, they blue lighted me to the hospital sirens and everything, was pretty scary! Once at the hospital they left me on my own for a bit gripping the gas and air as it did seem to be taking the edge off a little but I could barely move for the pain I was in! I was then moved to Resus where they scanned me and did an internal after giving me some morphine but they didn't get very far due to the pain I was in, I'm not sure if they saw much they didn't say and I was pretty exhausted by this point from being in so much pain!

After the scan they explained they feared this pregnancy could be in the wrong place, ectopic, so they sent me for emergency surgery, keyhole, pretty immediately so I was rushed up to surgery before it even sank in! It was after the surgery I found out the pain was coming from my ovary and Fallopian tube which was all twisted up and swollen, it had also lost its blood supply meaning it was dying but they managed to untwist it just in time to save it, and resumed blood supply.

I'm terrified that the trauma of all this is going to cause me to miscarry this little one, I haven't had any bleeding as such but a bit of brown spotting, I've passed a few bits which I'm not sure could be from surgery but nothing major clot wise I don't think but can't be 100% sure but I think I would feel it wouldn't I?

I've not really been able to eat much since the op as I am on strong painkillers which I currently need at the moment as my stomach is very swollen and bruised from the op, I'm feeling very sick and dizzy when I stand up and struggling to walk very well.. I'm trying to drink fluids as much as I can but I'm even fetching water back up, I drank some about 20mins ago which I pretty much threw up but I do manage to drink stuff sometimes n not throw it up plus I managed to keep my dinner down even tho I didn't eat much of it, result!

I have another scan which is booked with EPU for a week on Friday, but the waiting is torture! Not knowing if my pregnancy is going to survive this or not..

This is my 5th pregnancy and I have never had any complications like this before, so I was wondering if anyone in here had suffered from anything like this and gone on to have a healthy pregnancy?

I found my other post as a reply on someone else's post, officially confirmed i am going loopy it's either the tablets i am on or the stress, or maybe a combination, probably missed stuff out so have copied and pasted my original post

I'm currently about 5 or 6wks pregnant.

So on Thursday afternoon I started with severe pains in my side, in my pelvis area, they were more than severe I was in agony, quickly realised something wasn't quite right and hubby called 999 as I was gasping for breath because of the pain! Ambulance came and rushed me to hospital blue lights, sirens everything! They thought it could be ectopic pregnancy because I'm at risk of it due to previous surgery on my abdomen and diagnosed fertility issues.

When I got to the hospital I was left on my own for a bit gripping the gas and air which was taking the edge off a little.

I was then taken to Resus where they performed a scan and an internal but it was so painful they pretty much had to stop despite giving me morphine. From what I remember they didn't really find a lot with the scan/internal, least they didn't say they did..

They took me for emergency surgery shortly after, keyhole, and found ovarian torsion, my ovary and Fallopian tube was twisted and there was a lot of swelling, they managed to twist it back into its correct position, I think, and bloody supply was resumed to my ovary meaning I didn't loose it, should I have left it any longer I would of probably lost my ovary and Fallopian tube.

I've been in a lot of pain since the op, my stomach is swollen and very bruised. I'm terrified I'm going to miscarry this little one, I have a scan at EPU in a few weeks as they scanned me early Friday morning after the op but they couldn't see much only a sack with yolk sac, they couldn't see baby, the waiting for the next scan is sending me loopy, was wondering if anyone else had had this in pregnancy? Is it quite common? I've had 4 pregnancies before this one with no complications like this, had a little bit of brown spotting n passed a few bits when I have been to the toilet which I thought maybe from the op but no major clots that I'm aware of not that I can be 100% sure.. I think I would feel it wouldn't I? Can't really eat from feeling sick all the time and the strong painkillers they have prescribed me aren't really helping with the sickness but do feel I need them as in a lot of pain post surgery, trying to drink plenty fluids but eating just turns my stomach!

Sorry this has happened to you. The exact same thing happened to my SIL a few weeks ago and all was fine with her pregnancy. She was about 6 weeks at the time and is now 12 weeks, has had a couple more scans since the event, as well as NIPT testing, and all is fine with the baby and with her.

Try not to worry.
