I'm 40+2 today and going stir crazy! It's my first, so no other children, no friends with kids, no friends who don't work in the day. Trying to stay positive but I'm running out of things to do. Quite uncomfortable moving about so keeping the house clean/tidy takes up a fair bit of the morning as I move so slowly Grin

What's everyone else up to?

Try learn to knit! As boring as it sounds but could be a new hobby to keep you calm too 😂

Cheeseandapple · 14/05/2018 18:10

Haha! I've knitted 4 jumpers for the baby! Grin

I went into labour at 40+2 last week (baby arrived at 40+3) having just started a fiddly and relatively complicated baby jacket in fine wool - I figured it would either get me through being overdue or I wouldn’t ever finish it! So that is my recommendation for bringing on labour ;)

Cheeseandapple · 14/05/2018 18:18

Ok maybe I need to crack on with number 5 🤞🏻

I'm 40+5 and definitely over did it today - in bed now with nausea and a headache which is a bit crap had to get dp to put ds to bed so feel like a crap mum to boot!

Hoping will feel better tomorrow has anyone got plans for getting so far? I'm seeing consultant on Wednesday and if nothing has happened will probably go for elcs.

Congrats hersymphony and well done on all the knitting, I wish I were that creative!

Cheeseandapple · 14/05/2018 18:54

Hope you feel better @elmo1980 don't feel bad about your son! It's not like a stranger put him to bed. Did you go over with your son? My SIL went over the same amount with her two children.

I've got a sweep booked for Friday, when I'll be 40+6. Was offered one last Friday but wanted to give the baby a chance to make an appearance in her own time.

Just looking on treatwell and wowcher to have a pedicure at the moment x

I've got a 3 year old but she's in nursery some of the time. Currently 40+4 and been on mat leave since 39 weeks. When I've not had her I've been going to the gym , swimming, walking, cooking (and eating), going to cafes with a book. I've had a pregnancy massage, got my hair and nails done and watched some films. Nothing revolutionary but just trying to keep my mind and body busy!

elmo1980 · 14/05/2018 21:15

Good luck with the sweep I'm not brave enough to go for that! Ds was 10 days early and this pregnancy couldn't be more different.

girlwiththearabstrap so jealous of your energy that was me in my first pregnancy! Couldn't be further from it now have barely left the house other than for work!

Girlwiththearabstrap · 14/05/2018 21:25

I've been pretty lucky through both pregnancies in terms of feeling really well (apart from pre eclampsia last time). Although I was induced at 34+5 last time so being overdue is very unfamiliar territory for me! It just seems to be luck of the draw how each pregnancy affects you isn't it?

Cheeseandapple · 15/05/2018 05:32

Yeah I think so. I'm the same, had a relatively problem free pregnancy, gratefully! Going to do some baking today and I've just started getting into The Bridge on iplayer.

39+6 here. Have knitted/quilted enough for a small army. DC1 in nursery today so I'm planning on baking a lot today and then seeing a friend for a brew. I've been off work for weeks due to hyperemesis which is still quite bad, so although I'd LOVE to be walking more of exercising, I just don't have it in me.

Second sweep tomorrow so fx!!!

Cheeseandapple · 15/05/2018 07:09

@MyNameIsTotoro oo good luck for tomorrow!

I woke up with intermittent cramps and contractions so hoping this is the start! Completely irregular and different lengths at the moment though.

Hi Cheeseandapple, fingers crossed it's started for you!

I was due yesterday but no sign of baby yet. Seeing the midwife later and she's going to offer me a sweep but I don't think I want one.

I've been sorting out my DVD and CD collections.

elmo1980 · 16/05/2018 20:05

How are you getting on cheeseandapple hope things are/have gone well.

I met with consultant this morning at 41 weeks and agreed to csection on Friday. I was really upset but now contractions have started eek!!

Cheeseandapple · 22/05/2018 22:40

What a week @elmo1980 ! The cramps was the start of a really long early labour. Cramps got increasingly more painful and regular, worse at night until Friday when I had a progress bleed in the middle of the night. Went to hospital and taken to the birth room. Besides the pain, had a wonderful experience, baby was born in the water and has had a good first few days in life.

Having a hard time feeding but we'll get there!

How's everyone else getting on?

Girlwiththearabstrap · 23/05/2018 05:37

I had my baby at 40+12 after an extremely intense induction...2nd babies are quick!!!! In a bit of discomfort from pushing her out face up and a bit cut but I'm so in love!!

Cheeseandapple · 23/05/2018 07:54

Congratulations @Girlwiththearabstrap! Wonderful news. Must be a huge relief after waiting those 12 days x

Congratulations! 40+7 here now and starting to climb the walls. Week long slow labour with lots of cramps but no progress. Hoping for another sweep later!

elmo1980 · 23/05/2018 08:04

Oh congratulations and a water birth too very jealous!
My contractions ramped up over 48 hrs but kept the elcs appt they just brought it forward a bit as I was in so much pain and he was back to back.
Feeding is def hardest I've forgotten everything from first time round but we will get there.

Cheeseandapple · 24/05/2018 09:19

@TheyCanGoInTheBucket fingers crossed for you and sending cosmic pain relief. I had first sweep done after 4 days of early labour and went into active labour a few hours later so fingers crossed that does it for you!

@elmo1980 feeding is so hard! I went into it really positively, determined to do it but I had accounted for the baby not knowing what to do 😕 still determined but getting some help in from the hospital! Good luck with yours and glad to hear you didn't labour too long before they brought your c-sec forward (although 48 hours is long enough!)
