5-6 weeks and severe pain

Hi there,
I'm new to Mumsnet and I am about 5-6 weeks pregnant, I suffered a miscarriage November 2017 and so was quite worried when I began getting cramps this time round, however the cramping isn't so bad and I've had no bleeding. Lately though, around 2-3 times a day, I get this agonising sharp pain all the way across my lower abdomen, down into my legs and around my hips, it leaves me almost in tears and nothing I do seems to help, it lasts around 5-10 minutes and then I'm fine afterwards. Is this normal or should I be going to the doctors to get it checked out? I've had no bleeding or sickness with it. Any advice would be much appreciated, this is all new territory for me! Smile

Cramps, niggles and aches can all be normal. Severe, sharp pain, bad enough to take your breath away or bring you to tears, needs to be checked.

I have had period like cramps which have gotten bad enough where I've used a hot water bottle, but not taken any pain killers.

I would say that if it's unbearable, you should go and get checked out, just to make sure everything is okay.

If it's painful enough for you to be in tears I would get checked out personally. That doesn't sound normal.

M4rdybum, please be careful using a hot water bottle in pregnancy. Only on your back and never on your bump. Don't want to heat up baby. X

I had this when I was at the same stage. Felt like strong period pain and cramping. At one point, I'd felt like I was going to miscarry at any moment.

I think it's just round ligament pain and everything stretching getting ready.

Best of luck with it all! Smile

Oh and I agree with PP, no hot water bottle on bump but they've been an absolute God send with back/pelvis pain Smile

Oh I didn't know Shock I won't do it again.

I'm currently about 5 or 6wks pregnant.

So on Thursday afternoon I started with severe pains in my side, in my pelvis area, they were more than severe I was in agony, quickly realised something wasn't quite right and hubby called 999 as I was gasping for breath because of the pain! Ambulance came and rushed me to hospital blue lights, sirens everything! They thought it could be ectopic pregnancy because I'm at risk of it due to previous surgery on my abdomen and diagnosed fertility issues.

When I got to the hospital I was left on my own for a bit gripping the gas and air which was taking the edge off a little.

I was then taken to Resus where they performed a scan and an internal but it was so painful they pretty much had to stop despite giving me morphine. From what I remember they didn't really find a lot with the scan/internal, least they didn't say they did..

They took me for emergency surgery shortly after, keyhole, and found ovarian torsion, my ovary and Fallopian tube was twisted and there was a lot of swelling, they managed to twist it back into its correct position, I think, and bloody supply was resumed to my ovary meaning I didn't loose it, should I have left it any longer I would of probably lost my ovary and Fallopian tube.

I've been in a lot of pain since the op, my stomach is swollen and very bruised. I'm terrified I'm going to miscarry this little one, I have a scan at EPU in a few weeks as they scanned me early Friday morning after the op but they couldn't see much only a sack with yolk sac, they couldn't see baby, the waiting for the next scan is sending me loopy, was wondering if anyone else had had this in pregnancy? Is it quite common? I've had 4 pregnancies before this one with no complications like this, had a little bit of brown spotting n passed a few bits when I have been to the toilet which I thought maybe from the op but no major clots that I'm aware of not that I can be 100% sure.. I think I would feel it wouldn't I? Can't really eat from feeling sick all the time and the strong painkillers they have prescribed me aren't really helping with the sickness but do feel I need them as in a lot of pain post surgery, trying to drink plenty fluids but eating just turns my stomach!
