I'm just looking for advice from Mums about the timing of having a baby. I have always been broody my partner and I spoke the other night and decided that we would like to start trying for a baby and he is so excited about it. I am really keen to be a mum and I know that he will make an excellent father, but equally I'm a little bit terrified too about how life will change. I'm 28 and certainly made the most of my early twenties, so I don't think I'd feel like I'm missing out per se, it's just such a huge and permanent decision. I guess the big question is whether it's normal to feel like this and whether it ever feels like the perfect time? Advice please ladies! X

It's never the right time. It's always the right time.

I don't think that it's ever 100% the right time and something always comes up. (I can vouch for that, I was single and 19 when I had my first, went to college and uni after he was born. It was a massive struggle
In the beginning and now we're in a great position and the best of friends too).

I'm now 27 and 8 weeks pregnant with my second, when we decided to TTC we were full of nerves and excitement and feeling just like you are now. It's amazing and we still kind of feel like that.

If you both feel ready then I'd go for it... good luck on your journey xx

It’s never the right time! We started not preventing thinking it would take a while and boom first month we conceived (I have really irregular periods), we were both in secure jobs, married, home owners etc. Fast forward 12 weeks and my job was flagged as being up for redundancy 🙈. It’ll never be the right time, things will happen during the 9 months that will challenge you... but you will make it work! We are now 32 weeks and impatiently waiting 😍

I'm 33 we wanted to have our own house (needed work when we bought it) and to be married first (personal preference nothing more, just couldn't see us affording it after DC!). I have diagnosed PCOS and had been told that I would need fertility treatment to conceive and it's best before 35, we got married in January I came off the pill straight after. I've just started a secondment with work that has me traveling the country for the next two years, but the NHS wouldn't give us fertility support until we'd been trying for 9-12 months without. So I figured we were not expecting to have a baby for another couple of years realistically and maybe longer. I got my very convincing positive test last week (two tests with lines and one digital that says pregnant 3 weeks +) , so now I'm panicking about work and that we had planned on having more time to save etc. But I don't think there is ever a perfect time and because I hadn't had a period for nearly three months is convinced myself we might never be able to have a baby as I clearly wasn't ovulating (oops). I'm just trying to take it in my stride, so I guess what I'm saying is that despite how much this is wanted I'm still scared and worry about how we'll manage (I'm the higher earner), and how it will affect my career, and how being due two weeks before Christmas isn't great, but I know there are lots of people in much worse positions than us and am grateful it wasn't the uphill battle we were told to expect. Good luck OP of its right it's right and it's natural to be a bit nervous!

Thanks so much for your replies ladies! Good luck to the pregnant ladies too. FASH84 I hope it's the news you want. I think part of my anxiety stems from my friend who had her baby 8 months ago and whilst she loves being a mum, she equally talks a lot about feeling lonely during the days and a bit isolated. It's things like that which make me second guess myself I think x
