hi everyone, calculating from my lmp i am 6 weeks pregnant, had light spotting on 27 april, just before my period was due then had a positive pregnancy test on 3 may, i've had bleeding on and off for a couple of days so doc referred me to have a scan, the scan showed an empty sac and i was told very matter of factly that im either having a miscarriage or its too early to see anything yet and to go back in a week. i feel completely deflated, confused, upset etc, has anyone else experienced anything like this? would greatly appreciate any replies.

Hi, the same happened to me, I had some bleeding and went for an early scan and they could only see an empty sac, they said pretty much the same as they said to you. I had to wait 2 weeks for another scan though and when i went back they could see the heartbeat. Try not to worry.

Niallsmum - I have been for my first scan at 5.5wks (thought I was 6wks but apparently not). They found a sac too but I have to go back in 2wks to see if things have developed. Was told it was too early to see anything other than the sac. Must admit I'm just so relieved my beanie made it to my womb as I had an ectopic last time. Never even occured to me to start worrying again ......

pink elephant.... the more im looking on the net the more im finding that the youlk can only be seen at 6 weeks or so and no heartbeat can be detected til after this, the sonographer frightened me and had she explained things properly i would have felt better, so lets not worry... together
