Can you breastfeed after having breast implants?

I had my first child at 21 and none of my family had ever breastfed so I didn’t really know much about it how ever after getting to know other mums and hearing about breastfeeding really want to try it with my second which is due in November is it possible ?

Hi @Carver16, midwife here. Usually you can breastfeed after implants. It depends on where the implants are but if they are behind the muscle (which is the most common place for them) then you are usually fine. You wouldn't be able to if they severed the milk ducts...this is much more common with breast reduction, not implants. Good luck!

I had breast implants over the muscle and I was able to breastfeed no problem. As a PP says it is only breast reduction which usually affects the ability to bf.

I had mine over the muscle too thankyou so much so happy now I know it’s atleast a possibility!
