Eight weeks and bleeding

I am 44 so the odds are not on my side from the off here.

I had some light pink spotting last week only when I wiped. Only lasted a hour.

It started again yesterday morning, but lasted from waking at 7 until midday. Again only when I wiped.
It started again today from waking but has got slightly darker, ie more fresh blood. It’s not soaking a pad or anything. I have no cramps, no symtoms at all. Only had pg symtoms for two days at five weeks. TMI but it smells like when your waters go. I thought it might be a irritation of the cervix but now I’m not sure.

I don’t want to ring gp or epu as I’m only eight weeks and I know no one can stop a MC. Also I have a scan booked for next week with the nhs, it was booked for me as I’m high risk and need dating for a cvs.

If I miscarry will I suddenly start to bleed heavy? I’m more worried about that right now I think

No one will be able to tell you that you will bleed heavy if you miscarry.
I’ve had 5 miscarriages and each one was completely different, I’ve experienced heavy bleeding & mega pain, But also painless pink discharge.

Your best bet is to rest and wait for your scan next week. But if you feel anxious then there is no reason why you shouldn’t contact your
Midwife. EPAU is especially for early
Pregnancy care, it’s true you cannot stop a MC but if there is another reason for a bleed they would be able to tell You. And possibly tell you If you are to expect a
Big bleed.

Thank you. I will have to see if the epu is open over the weekend if it gets heavier. I don’t want to waste anyone’s time but I’m also worried about heavy bleeding. Will have to wait it out I think.

Rest & relax with your feet up if you can. Nothing may come of it.
I had bleeding in my last pregnancy and have an energetic 4 yr old
Now.

I bleed lightly for about two weeks and then came the big gush with clots etc.. it can be scary especially when unexpected.. but maybe your better of to get checked out it may not even be a miscarriage.. please let me know how u get on Flowers

I bled lots with dd when I was 9 weeks. It was running out of me.

I went to the epu and had a scan and they weren’t sure what would happen but they found a heartbeat and I saw the little bean on the screen. I waited it out and the bleeding stopped. Can’t remember what they said it was now.

She is 5 nearly 6 now. So it’s not always bad....

@Batmanmum how are u today x

Batmanmum · 13/05/2018 22:22

Thanks for asking. I woke up and was fine. But I took advice and wore a pad out today. Came home and I had fresh blood and it had marked the pad. Still bleeding, not massively but darker and more of it today. No pains but I don’t feel good about this. It still smells like when m waters went in labour with my previous babies.

I’m trying to prepair for the worse as I have never had this in pregnancy before. Dreading what tomorrow might bring.
